MAP

Hi,

do you think it's ok to install a new ECU and eliminate the MAF and use only th MAP? I have a my98 euro gt, I need a new ECU to do a remap so I was thinking in buying a 2nd hand LINK...

Bit basic by todays standard but cheap and it does the job.
Link on mine for a few years now, done pretty well considering.

Bad points of a link...
Having to wait a few secs for it to "sort it'self out" before cranking (just wait for fuel pump to prime) or else it wont start.
Idle is a bit hit and miss as there is no lambda control.
There is a knock count... but it isn't used to retard anything so if it's going to go tits up it will..
It has a annoying cough / jerk that's impossible to get rid of at one particular rpm point even though the two load sites are only one digit different it still coughs

Your best bet if it's a first step on the mapping ladder would be ECUTEK if the ECU is compatible (round maf with two torx screws) (unmapable ecus have a square boxed MAF.
Why do you want to get rid of the MAF anyway?

my MAF as a square box.

I still don't have problems with the MAF, but a new one costs almost €500 and for €450 I can't get a 2nd hand LINK. that's why I was thinking in buying the LINK, this way I don't need to worry about MAF problems...
