Would you buy a car off ebay

Without going to view it?

Ive seen a car for sale that fits the criteria I have, its very cheap and with no bids with only 2 hours to go Im tempted to stick a bid in and buy it. I have 100% feedback and would happily go through with the deal if all is in order but if I got there and there was something wrong with it that was not mentioned in the ad I would want to walk away and not buy it even though I would feel bad about it....

What do you lot think. its only at £1000 at the minute, not seen them go for any less than £1500 at very least. I think theyve put it in the wrong section too hence no bids etc as when I search for that car it doesnt come up but if I search under a different name it does come up... (if that makes sence)

Cheers

Bought my 172 CUP from Ebay. Was from a dealer, so a bit more comeback if anything was wrong with it.

Don't know if I'd buy a ten grand car from a private seller however.....

As far as i was aware cars had to be as described or you could walk away.. or am i wrong? I have bought a couple of cars from ebay both of them as described :)

I bought a 1969 ford cortina 1600e for £700 off there, I had quite a drive to get it, I just said to the guy will it get me home, he said yes so I did the deal and it did get me home! For a grand yes probably hey at the end of the day no-one can 'force' you to buy it, so you get there and its no good, dont hand over the cash job done!

sold my 540 for £22k based on pics only. money cleared in my account before he ever came to view/and collect

Mmmm don't think I would ever risk anything expensive (ie over a couple of grand).

Although loads of people at work have done it, and seemed happy.

A work collegue just bought one and there was absolutely no problem whatsoever. A friend who is paparazzi (cant spell it but you know what i mean), bought a transit van for £100. Got a lift to London to collect, then drove it straight to the Breakers Yard!!!!! LOL

Brought an Audi Coupe of Ebay, got half way home to find out the head gasket had gone  Only paid £100 though, my mate has it now and it’s a great car.

Bought a 205 gti and a Lotus Elise from Ebay, great buys and nothing wrong with either.

Bought my Benz estate off ebay, it was exactly as described, and the seller took loads of extra photos for me when I asked for specific shots.

Eighteen months down the line, it's a bit more battered, coz I use it as a van, but apart from a fuel filter blockage (my fault) it's never missed a beat:thumb:

I find that Ebayers who are successful bother to describe the car properly with loads of pics. Its cheaper and a better way of advertising your car than in other places IMHO, as the amount of info you can put up is limitless.
