dav11 09 April 2006 11:48 AM

dean/abz 09 April 2006 11:54 AM

what's so bad about them

havent used them yet but would like to know why they arent liked

the flying sheep 09 April 2006 12:18 PM

wallace performance are a very capable and knowledgeable establishment and know subarus inside out + are very reasonable price wise
ure petrol to perth?!!!! go along and speak to them + see there set up + decide for yourself instead of listening to the doom merchants

dean/abz 09 April 2006 12:26 PM

i have dropped them a email see what they are saying

DIPSY 09 April 2006 04:39 PM

Post on sidc scottish forum and see if you get any replys for servicing in Aberdeen wise .That were scottish lot post

Power Junkie 10 April 2006 09:44 AM

You can also try http://www.briandowniecarsales.co.uk/about%20us.htm I have used them a few times and always been happy with the work

p1ggm 10 April 2006 07:01 PM

i would say no to wallace now, after herbie on my site and sidc posted about what happend to his car last week while being mapped.

personally never had anything to do with them thou, have you tried jap performace?

rossyboy 12 April 2006 01:00 PM

If you go to Brian Downie, be prepared to wait. I called and the waiting list was about a month.

Give Indy Car Sales a try. Their cars are expensive to buy, but I find their servicing costs very reasonable and I've had 4 of them in less than 3 years.

I hate to say it, but I would be wary of wallace aswell, through personal experience and reports from more than just one or two others.

themaverick 14 April 2006 03:47 AM

dont go wallace!!! or indy!!!

wallace are, in my opinion, incompetant, who ruined the ecu on my mates vr6 and took off his power boost valve saying it was doing no good to his car then tried to put it away in his cupboard till he was told in no uncertain terms "i don't bloody think so matey" his vr6 now has to goto star for a proper job doing

as for indy there was a thread regarding this guy a couple years back...

brian downie top bloke and knows his scoobs

you could also try ricky gauld ( huntly) or jim king (inverurie, think thats his name)

WUZ 14 April 2006 10:46 AM

Anything I can help you with?

Russell
BHP Developments, Aberdeen.

doug2507 14 April 2006 07:58 PM

I'm sure there are a few 'good' places to go. I've not been to see Russell yet but from chatting with him and hearing about him from other tuners i'll be making a point of visiting him the next time i'm home.

I'd also like to say that Jim King is spot on and a down to earth guy with no B.S. My old mans been taking cars to him for a while now and everything he does is on the ball. He's also got himslef a scooby now and there seems to be a growing number of scoobs parked at the garage every time my dad's over there. (still not got his rollers up and running yet though!).

Carl Davey 15 April 2006 09:05 AM

I always used Glenburgie up in Forres. Never heard a bad word said about them and i've used them for what must be getting on for five years.

RA Dunk 15 April 2006 10:05 AM

Im not gonna slate wallace as i dont know him but i have had dealings with indy and wouldent recommend him for ANYTHING!!

rossyboy 15 April 2006 01:22 PM

The guy at Indy must like me then as I've never had any problems ;) I got the usual arrogance when I was looking to buy the car, but he's been great since then. I get a handshake and rundown of the latest projects he's got on the go when my car is in.

I would echo Carl as I've not heard a bad word about Glenburgie. Its just too far for me to travel.

RA Dunk 15 April 2006 07:34 PM

did he give you the usal crap about a FULL PARTS & LABOUR warranty?? i bet he did , he gave it to me as well.. 5 months later my radiator burst so im thinking im ok im still under warranty took it back and he didnt want to know

Russs 23 April 2006 09:55 PM

Jesus, talk about scaremongering

Take a look around at some of these places, and the customers cars they have in their premises.
Do you think they would be there if they are getting such bad service?!?!

That story about the VR6 is complete fabrication. Tell me how is it possible to ruin an ecu by driving a car?
If you knew anything about power boost valves you would know that they are just fuel pressure regulators. Do you think a relatively standard car benefits from an increase in fuel pressure? Go read about it if you are as clueless as your statements would suggest........

Philip W 24 April 2006 01:01 PM

I would recommend Wallace Performance

I have not use Wallace Performance for about a year due to buying A Brand New Laguna Sports Tourer at the start of 2005 for the wife and selling my Dark Blue 53 plate Clio 172 and my Silver L Reg. Scooby turbo 2000 wagon and having some proper fun on two wheels but due to now having two kiddies to look after I’m back to four wheels and Scooby’s again.

I can only say the work they did on both my 172 and Scooby before selling them was Excellent.

Some of the Work Done by Wallace Performance

172 - Tinted Window excellent work and great price.

Scooby – Full custom Exhaust, Dump Valve plus more bits and bobs I’m not going to list everything but again excellent work and great prices.

I will defiantly be using Wallace Performance again to work on the Scooby I have just bought and can only say keep up the good work guy's

d4ve_h4y 28 April 2006 10:39 PM

id say go to jim king! ive known him for a few years and he knows scoobys inside and out - as well as owning one himself for the last 6 years i reckon(although he now owns a bug eyed one :( ).

a little expensive on labour costs but if jim works on it himself its more than worth it - scottys very good too.

also ive not heard anything bad about bhp developments fella either! seems to have a nice mooded scooby that hasnt blown up.......some companies around here have a name for doing that and rumours only stick if there true(thats all ill say)

also jims rollers are only 2wd.........hes putting them outside his actual garage but hes so busy hes not had the time to convert the old sheds yet!!! and thats nearly 3 years now!!!

WUZ 29 April 2006 05:16 PM

Cheers Dave. Cheques in the post (WINK, WINK):D

Russell

dav11 02 May 2006 06:41 PM

where about is bhp developments?:wonder: :wonder:

d4ve_h4y 02 May 2006 07:30 PM

on brian downie ive heard hes handy for sourcing parts and stuff......

but how can anyone trust someone who prices his cars like he does? i thought people slagged indy car sales for prices but come on!!!

7k for 92 impreza he imported and stuck a splitter and small spoiler on??
9k for n reg impreza sti?

Just been round to see Russ at WP tonight who very obligingly stuck a wideband on my STi to double-check the ECU was coping with the AFR's ok after an injector swap. Very happy with the service, craic and advice offered... even got a cup of tea courtesy of Scott.

I had a bad experience with Brian Downie but loads of people recommend him so perhaps i just caught him on an off day.

WUZ 02 May 2006 11:36 PM

I'm in Kingswells for now M8 but I am moving during the summer to bigger "premises":D

Rott (AKA Stevo) - things are great M8. Currently stuck in Singapore whilst the ship gets upgraded.

You know what its like........................loads of beer and ladies of "questionable" sexuality. Seems you'll love anything in a skirt when your drunk:D

Russell

ps - nothing wrong with repeating yourself 4 times, it's pretty much the norm, when you work in India:D

My car threw up a CEL light last night and Wallace fitted me in last minute and ran a diagnostics test today. Again very pleased with the service. Russell in particular is very friendly & knowledgeable.....
