18" et48 on Classic??
 

Is anyone out there running 18's with a et48 offset BUT with 225/35/18 tyres instead of the more popular 215/35's???

On a classic, my P1 18's are et53. I use 225/35/18 tyres with no issues.

If I were to use et48 wheels, will I have to use 215's to stop any rubbing issues??

I don't really want to remove the rear arch rubber surround before anyone suggests??

Pickle - im sure Marty is running 225/35 on his PFF'7s and the car was blatted down lanes with a couple of people in the back to try it. He had no rubbing apparently.

I had 225/40's on my 18 OZ's (et53) with no rubbing, but then again I never had any fatties in the rear seats.

I'm running 215/35's now.

Yes but the PFF's are 50mm et and I am asking about 48mm et :D ;)

Over on the USA site, they reckon they will rub, but I can't imagine 5mm will make all that much difference??

Surely there must be more than 5mm gap between rear arch and tyre even when suspension is compressed on the car now (with 225/35's and et 53)??

Here's a picture of my Toyo's 215/35/18's ... they have some protection but not much, more so from stones flicking back than a kerb I feel.

Cheers mate. Had a look round the rear on the car with the P1's/225's on, looks quite tight as it is so I'm just gonna have to go with the 215's on the new wheels I think then. :)

There are a shed load of pictures of mine HERE if that helps to see the different angles. I must admit similar to you I was worried mine may rub at first.... since the springs dropped the car between 25-30mm lower than standard and the last thing I wanted to do was roll the arches, initially I removed the rubber strips from around the arch but soon realised there was not going to be an issue so they went straight back on after a few days.
