OK he hasn't won the title (yet) BUT he's English doesn't crash at EVERY other rally and for gawd sake is piloting that god awful thing round with some aplomb. Some very vocal negatives recently as soon as a certain finnish driver (who hasn't won yet) gets mentioned.
I'm biased (reason to be revealed shortly) but come on he is a top driver. ?????????????????? Ste |
I think he's a great driver, he never gives up and that's important, he's been unlucky with faults on the car and stuff more than crashing and he has actually done quite well. I like the guy anyway.
So, you related to him? Or are you him? ;) I bet you are! nah, probably not but that would be kinda cool. |
"a certain finnish driver (who hasn't won yet) "
tommi has won 4 world titles, what are you talking about? Burns is a superb driver and my money is on him to take the title this year. His is consistently excellent in the UK Rally and all he has to do is get a good place in Australia and hes laughing. |
Excellent driver. Pity he's going, even though he does come across as a bit miserable at times. Still got a good chance this year and my money's on him. That's him scuppered then! :D
|
Sooner the Ginger Git Buggers of to the Lions Den the better :p
Then we can get a proper team together |
He's the Coulthard of the Rallying world. Great talent, great driver (though a level down from the best) but far too fond of blaming everything and everybody else when he doesn't win or things don't go his way.
|
I wouldn't say no ;)
Actually yes I would :D Burns is a good driver, lets see if Tommi can give us the title next year. |
Personally, I'll miss Burns, he's a superb driver.
Yes he does bemoan his misfortune, but don't they all. At least he does it in a more professional way than Colin did/does. Let's hope that, regardless of this year's result, Tommi can be in the running next year. Josh |
Hes a whinging TO55POT good riddance
|
Bad PR otherwise it's been great seeing an Englishman in a Scooby.
|
Nothing against Burns, I'm still a big big fan of Mcrae, arguably the, bravest and fastest man on the circuit.
Mcrae has been around since the days where there were no other Brits to cheer on, and I still find it difficult to cheer on Burns before Mcrae, even if Burns is in a scooby. Bit like changing football team allegiance!! |
The last two years are Richards first as #1 driver for a team. Its completely different from being a support driver.
You can't slink away when things go wrong and when things go right, well that's what you are paid for. Most interesting thing on Eurosport coverage last night was that Gronholm has been talking to Mitsubishi as he does not relish have Burns on the team. "What's the matter? Too spicy for ya?" ;) Any way, at the moment Burns has to negotiate his way out of his contract with SWRT. Otherwise, he isn't driving for anyone next year. |
I agree - a level down from the best, and a whinger. Has he ever admitted driver error?
|
How often does Mcrash admit driver error.
I am a big McRae fan as I am old and Jimmy McRae was one of my heroes - I saw him drive at Ingleston in a saloon car race, Chevette HSR - the gear stick came off in his hand on the first lap, he used a screwdriver (why was there a screwdriver in his racing car) to change gears until he was eventually stuck in second - he still got a podium finish! Burns is a great driver, more precise than McRae, he was consistently faster than McCrae at Goodwood hillclimb a couple of years ago. He deserves to do well - but doesn't have the charisma of Colin. But imagine, Gronholm and Burns on the same team - the day of the Stepford Drivers! Trout PS and McRae told a car magazine that a 22b was the best road car he had ever owned - and that was after he joined Ford - he got a major bollocking for saying that! "not as charismatic as Colin"
Crikey! Colin's not exactly Mr. Electric is he? |
I think remember him saying it was his fault in finland a while ago
