Anyone on here worked for DHL etc. on a self employed basis?

Every time i speak to someone from DHL (or TNT) they tell me they are self employed, and they do alright as they keep telling me

has anyone on here worked for them on a self employed basis and if so what are the potential earnings like, hours, conditions etc.

Cheers

I'm not being funny here but if you've spoken to these people why haven't you asked them these questions?

Not being funny eh could have fooled me:)

Ok i have spoke to a couple - one person would not tell me apart from 'i do alright' and someone else waved his Porsche keyring at me and said 'well it pays for my Carrera 4 - although he seemed genuine you do have to take the bulls**t factor into account.

I actually know someone who is a self employed owner/driver for another parcel firm and I can truthfully tell you that these guys can earn a lot of money. It all depends on the area you are given, the amount of deliveries/collections you have on "your" round, etc.

The hours are crap though - 6am start and quite possibly a 6pm finish but it would vary from one firm to the other.

I wasn't being funny. :p

DHL chap who delivers to us says he is earing good money but new contract up soon and no rate increase & they have dropped the pick up payment down quite a lot. Like above, long hours & 100+ parcels a day. If you get a good route the 100+ should not be a problem, if you get loads of villages & non industrial estate customers it could take all day & some

Some I know earn 3k+ per month but then you have all the costs inc van, fuel etc to come off so I suggest you do some homework 1st.

Hello.

As said, it depends on the route/area/competition etc but there is definately reasonable money to be made in self-employed couriering if the circumstances are right for you.

Have a chat with some people who know what they're talking about and if it seems viable then get a van and a sat nav and take it from there.

Cheers,

Matt.

Also bear in mind that DHL have now merged with Exel Logistics, so there are going to be a lot of changes coming up...
