Flippin puncture - should I replace 1 or 2 tyres??

Just found the mother of all thorns embedded in my rear n/s tyre - a reasonably fresh F1 GS-D3. Chap at the local independent fitters confirmed my fears that it can't be repaired, so I'll need a new one.

Here's the thing - the tread difference between the existing, undamaged, part worn tyre and a new one is on average 2mm. I've read that if the difference between tyre diameters is too great, it can cause problems with the diff. Now, geometry was never a strong subject for me, but given that the total difference in diameter would be 4mm on average (more on the inside edge, i think), is this enough of a difference to warrant buying 2 new tyres, or could I get away with replacing just the one?

Cheers

Kev

Sympathise with you mate. I hit a pot hole (could see Australia down it) in my motor. Never thought anything of it till the next morning when the car started pulling to one side. Popped into the local tyre spot and whipped the wheel off. Cracked my 18" as well as the fooked tyre. Cost me a nice cool £250. You could say i was sick as fook.

I hope you sent the bill to your council...

Just wrote a letter to them with some photos enclosed. Fingers crossed they might cough up for the damage caused.
