Do the course Tiggs, if you goto court to plead innocence and fail they can add on an extra point so it will then become 4 points, and we all no in this game points DON'T make prizes, plus they can impose a bigger fine. So go and join the others who have been offered it and watch as they show you a car striking a child dummy at 30mph then 35 then 40 and tell you all about how speed kills.
Saw a programme on it some months back, about 15 people who were given the same choice as you, fine & points or awareness course.

not at all.....i fully support speed cameras and have no issue getting caught. I have said lots of times that i have been caught about once every 4-5 years since i started driving/riding bikes. This means i never have more than 3 points, and currently none.
I drive based on a desire this continues which means when i am caught i am doing only 36mph and in no danger of loosing a licence.

if they fitted speed limiters to all cars tommorow i wouldnt give a toss, i'd just go buy a track car and do trackdays (as i did when i got 3 points within days of buying an R1 years ago.....i just slowed down on the road and did 30+ trackdays that year - so i had a great time and very safley)

no, not in the Thames Valley.....this is my main issue with it. 35mph you get away with it, 36mph you get the course option, 37mph + you get no option...just points.

If the course is so go...why so few sent on it? why not have people on 40mph given the course and 1 point, 45mph the course and 2 points.

Just seems odd execution of the idea.

Money thats all its about. They have easier options to make £60 than waffle on to a group of dangerous criminals for 1-2 days, in the same period they could have made tens of thousands of pounds sat in the back of a blacked out van :D

i dont think it is money. If they offered the course at £150 instead of points for those under 40mph they would get loads of takers - more than nough to pay for the....in fact, if i was worried about my licence i would rather pay £2k a do a course than loose my licence.

The daft thing is some forces offer this as a freebie!!!

i did a course with hants constabulary back in the 80,s, totally free, and not because of any driving issues :thumb:

it was 2 hour a week over 4 weeks, and finished with a run out with an Iam instructor, to asses your driving, and a tour of duty with the area car!!

nice blast up the M27 on a shout!!

Very sensible to get it out of your system by doing track days, and good fun too.
