Fitting 99 heads into a 95 car?

Morning everybody matey peeps.
I was mooching through magazines the other day, and have been speaking to people about the possibility, but now its time to throw it over to the floor.

What’s involved in getting 99 phase 2 heads into a 95 phase 1 car please? (and working well!)
Shortblock is obviously no bother, universal me up, woo yay.
But it’s the heads I need to get in; I see Paul is running phase 2 heads in the FUG so it must be possible.

One option mooted about so far has been to bas**rdise the runners from a phase 2 inlet manifold with the plenum from a phase 1 inlet manifold so as to retain the ICVS but I want to check if there’s an easier way forward than this?

Im happy to get my hands dirty but if its a full wiring job then I'd be snookered

Also, will a std. 801 99 ecu work without the purge solenoid or will it throw a CEL?

Already discussed it with you.. :)

but in answer to the cel on 99 ecu without purge valve.. yes I believe it will but if you just plug it in.. it should go away.. but no need to re-plumb it all.

I think you might be best to get a plate made up so an early idle valve goes on the 99 manifold..(just not sure how much work involved in that) and then fit the early throttle body and tps to 99 manifold..

cool RE: purge valve, same as MAP then to clear the CEL, ie just needs the connection not the plumbing :)

I know we discussed this, thats why I noted it above, albeit subtley ;)

what are you up to Andy? Sounds like an uber project on the horizon;) :thumb:

could be if I can get a phase 2 engine into a phase 1 car without too much grief

Jolly Green Monster 31 March 2006 09:35 AM

phase 2 wiring loom might be the easy answer...

Peanuts 31 March 2006 11:28 AM

and run phase 2 ecu Simon?

Jolly Green Monster 31 March 2006 11:30 AM

Yeah..
