Looking for STI 8/9 rear spoiler

Hi guys,
I'm new to this site so please excuse if I'm posting this thread in the wrong place or asking a question which has already been answered.

I'm looking for a large rear spoiler to replace the standard one fitted to my 2005 WRX. Ideally something like an STI8/9 replica.
I've trawled through loads of web sites but the more I look the more confused I get. I'm specifically looking for something thats relatively cheep (but good quality) and fits the existing WRX bolt holes (I know most require additional holes as well).
http://www.revolution.eu.com/ have an STI 8/9 replica for £199.99. It's unpainted and made from injection moulded P.U.
Has anybody any experience of this spoiler and if so is it any good?
Is injected moulded P.U a good material for rear spoilers, I've heard some fibre glass spoilers crack?
It sounds reasonably priced but I don't want to buy something that's poor quality.

www.scoobyworld.co.uk have a few other options. They are more expensive and I don't think they fit the existing WRX spoiler bolt holes.

I've seen various threads recommending DR Motorsport but want to weigh up all the options before I buy.
Has anybody had good experience of any alternatives?

I'm also looking for a body shop in Essex (near Southend/Chelmsford) to fit the spolier if anybody has any recommendations.

Thanks in advance for any responses

Have a look here

I've seen the quality of the DR Motorsport spoilers and they are very good as well as having a top paint job so I'd be tempted to stick to one of their replica STi8 spoilers if I were you!
I notice on the thread above that the brake light is white too (The same as the OE STi8 spoiler) as some replica ones I've seen have been red and they don't look quite right.

I bought a genuine STi8 spoiler off a guy on here last year and if you're lucky enough to get one second hand (And I think there are a couple for sale in the Classifieds section) you can just swap over the whole boot lid from one car to the other and hence,no drilling necessary!!

Good luck :)

Also try www.gradea-subaru.co.uk Top peeps, but you'll have to arrange spraying yourself.

I ordered an STi6 from them a couple of years ago, ordered at 3.30 one afternoon, it arrived at 9.30 the next day!

have you got a wrx300 mate? DR motorsport all the way. the do the best replicas and also genuines cheap too.

ScoobyWRX300 29 March 2006 03:12 PM

C2forWRX,
Yes I do have a WRX300. Owned it about six months and well pleased. It's not as good looking as an STI but with the PPP fitted as standard it's as fast(er) than an STI and a lot cheeper to insure.
It's a pitty they only fitted the standard WRX rear spoiler because it deserves better.

I have a 300 too. had it 1 month and loving it apart from the 250 miles to a tank but its only money! Im tempted by an sti spoiler too. I may go for one in the summer but as for now im going to fit corner splitters to the front and maybe a black front lip.

I spoke to DR motorsport who do genuine spoilers and excellent replicas and they do wr blue all the time so no probs with paint match. he even said they have dont wrx300's before.

Yep fuel consumptions not good and I'd love to know where Subaru get their official mpg figures from, they must test the cars in a vacuum (with no air resistance)!
There's definitely something missing from both ends of the 300. They could have done more to distinguish it from the standard WRX.
Corner splitters sound like a good idea - have you found any yet?

I'm still undecided on the rear spoiler. Pretty much everybody has recommended DR Motorsport. I must admit I know nothing about spoilers or body work but is fibre glass a good material for spoilers as I've heard it can crack. I don't want to have to get it resprayed or replaced in a couple of years.
Revolution (http://www.revolution.eu.com/) spoilers are made from injection moulded PU. I don't know if that's a better material?
Although they are only £200 I don't know how good a fit they are and I'd still need to get it sprayed somewhere which is all extra hassle.

The corner splitters are avaiable from your local dealer. part number 57742fe101pg & 57742fe000pg (left & right) about £120 and come painted painted. see this thread http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=500915

I have heard a bad report about the revolution spiler cracking and it does seem awfully cheap but the lads there are great so they will sort out any probs you have. your right about fibreglass. a big no no for these spoilers. DR the best.

yes absolutely serious. I track all my mileage expenses for work so I have a VERY accurate record as a result. 29 dead at the mo over the last 7287 miles.

Why what u getting do you think..?

£48 fuel = roughtly 50 litres (96p per litre) = 6 miles per litre = 27mpg ish. Not far off then for you.

Rich

C2forWRX 30 March 2006 05:14 PM

yea optimax is 94.9p a litre and i got £48 and a bit. did roughly 280 miles before the light came on i recon im 25mpg-ish. things can only get better though. cold morning starts everymorning for me. cant wait for summer!

C2forWRX 30 March 2006 05:16 PM

60 litres it is. Filled mine up once, just after the light came on, and got the best part of another 10 litres in !!!

ScoobyWRX300 30 March 2006 06:13 PM

C2forWRX, I thought the DR Motorsport spoilers were Fibreglass, I'm sure I had an email from them a while ago stating that. Maybe I'll give them a call to confirm.
Most I've ever got is 29MPG and that was driving like my dad for a whole tank. I think I average low 20s but I'm too scared to work it out - I prefer to just ignore it and enjoy the drive.

your right there, i cant help staring at the fuel gauage though and watch it drop, it must be dangerous!

i read in the book that the fuel light should come on with only a couple of litres left. mine comes on with a 5th of a tank left!

as for the spoilers i didnt think DR motorsports were made of fibreglass but all i know is i have never heard anyone complain about them.
