The single DIN monitor looks a good price, if you don't want the OEM enclosure are they cheaper still ;)

Also are they all black surround, and what colour is the LCD. Pic looks yellow but presume it's green?

Tony.

Couple of questions about the ECU monitor...

How much would it cost to add the oil pressure / temp sensors, and are they easy to fit?

Does it monitor boost pressure out of the box, as I thought a sensor had to be added for that as well?

Tony.

If you don't want the enclosure remove £20 i.e. Single DIN less enclosure = £180.
Front panels can be silver or black.
LCD colour is same as in the picture.

Si.

Oil Temp/Pressure sensor kit is £170 + vat.

Boost is available as standard on all Subaru data monitors, no extra sensors are required.

Thanks for the reply. Forgive the rash of questions, bit how easy are these to fit? Is it easy to run the cable through the back of the dash? And where does the power come from? I've fitted a single DIN HU to replace the OEM double DIN one (on a 2003 newage), will I need to use the 12v line from that or is there another way? I'm fairly hopeless at this sort of thing, so I want to be sure I'm capable of doing it before taking the plunge.

PSI3 28 March 2006 01:10 PM

Si, they take 20 minutes to fit.

Our monitors plug into the diagnostic socket (OBD II) which is just beneath the steering wheel. Power, ground and signal all comes through this connector, there are no other connections.
Fitting the oil sensor kit (if required) is a bit more involved, full fitting instruction are available on our website here.. http://www.psi3.co.uk/downloads/sensorinstall.pdf .

If you visit us in Gloucestershire we will fit free of charge.

Do you have these in stock Simon ready to go (black facial/red buttons... or possible silver facial/red buttons).

So it's £180 for one to just fit below a single DIN stereo in an MY06, since the orginal post has been edited the pod mounted version prices have been added  .

The pic (or my eyes ;) ) isn't very good, is the display green?

And lastly these do work fine on MY06 models don't they??

Cheers,

Tony.

AlanS 28 March 2006 08:26 PM

Sorry for being thick, but what is the enclosure?

Tony, £180 is the price for a single DIN unit less the single DIN enclosure. ( i believe you allready have the enclosure? )
All items in stock except the silver front panels which will be available as of 4/4/06.

The text on the display is a greeny yellow.

Yes they work fine on a MY06.

Hi Alan, the enclosure is the box into which we mount our data monitor, in the case of the single DIN data monitor we use the Subaru single DIN pocket as used by many if they replace the double DIN headunit with a single then want something to fill the hole.

Simon,

I'm confused now... easily done. So a stolen photo but my MY06 looks like this:

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/david.b...1/DSC_8326.jpg

So do i need to spend £180 or £200 to fit the PSi3 where the pocket currently lives.

Do you also have any other pics of the display, greeny yellow just won't look right next to all the normal green illumintaion of the dash and head unit. Yes i am a tart but if it is really that yellow i'll stick with just using my copy of DeltaDash :(

Tony.

So, I'm I right in thinking that the Data Monitor fits INTO a plastic single DIN pocket [which I have already] and not directly into the potential space created by taking my single DIN pocket out?

If this is the case, do I have to mod my own pocket to secure your monitor into it and cut holes in the back for the data cable to exit?

Answer soon, as I'm ready to order...

GaryK 29 March 2006 01:25 PM

Simon,

Will the ipod adaptor work with the standard unit in my WR1, I think the unit is a kenwood?

Cheers

Gary

Alan I'm quite sure you pull that open pocket out and the unit sits in as a direct replacement.

PSI3 29 March 2006 03:24 PM

The picture with the Pioneer headunit and Jennifer Lopez :D , shows beneath it a black plastic "pocket" - we buy these pockets from Subaru and fit our electronics inside them and sell it as a complete unit WITH the pocket.

Therfore if you have the same setup as per the photo you replace the pocket with our data monitor.

If you have the standard double DIN stereo you just buy a headunit (we are Kenwood dealers so can help out if required) and a single DIN data monitor.

We machine the pocket to allow for the connector board and mountings so it is easier to buy the unit as a whole from us.

I hope this makes sense.

I will post some more pictures of the LCD tomorrow.

Good question Gary, i will try to find out and let you know.

Cheers Simon.. so best for me to spend £200 rather than trying to butcher my own pocket :)

Pics of the display would be great.... do you not do a blue version too?

Also regarding the standard Kenwood headunit. I presume the WR1 version is the same as the MY06 i took out. If so the ipod connection is not there... i have the IP500 and it just won't work.

Tony.

A bump for this as I'd like pics / confirmation of blue as well.

If I ordered today, any idea when it would arrive (assuming in stock?)

Tony, blue is only available in our VFD range, these are not part of the special offer.

Cheers Simon. I'll look at the pics and decide from there, nice of you to offer the refund tho.

The units when they first appeared a few years back (non VFD) were all straight green display, any reason for the move to greeny/yellow?

Tony.

GaryK 30 March 2006 02:24 PM

Simon,

Notice you are in glos, I work just outside glas, do you have premises, Im interested in trying the ipod adaptor and having a look at what component speakers you have, have you got a showroom?

Cheers

Gary
