STi 06 Dyno Results

Just thought I would post my dyno road printout to show people what is easily available from an 06.

Mods are:

TSL Group N exhaust
De-resonated centre section
Green Air Filter

and that is it - running on Optimax and went on the rollers on saturday - amazed at the results. This was a scoobycity.co.uk RR day and most cars were within a few bhp of what was expected or previously recorded on other rollers.

sorry - should say that this is without it being mapped :)

The Knives are out 27 March 2006 09:41 AM

So you are getting 320ish with out any remap!!!!!

The New PPP isn't going that high IIRC

How can you explain that?

Are the Rollers accurate?

Neil W 27 March 2006 09:43 AM

New PPP is 316bhp and 330 ft/lb

Maybe I should cancel and go for exhaust. Is it a full decat system or CAT Back?

scoobydooooo 27 March 2006 09:48 AM

and stuff your warranty ??

dynamix 27 March 2006 09:57 AM

just the backbox and removed the centre section with the resonator in it - stil got both cats.

green air filter too

hard to explain really - but not complaining :D - car has done 3500 miles, mostly gently miles but with one track day that seems to have loosened it up nicely.

The rollers on the day measured around 30 cars - most were within a few bhp of previous figures from the likes of power engineering's rollers and on average were slightly down.

To the best of my knowledge and confirmed by supplying subaru main dealer, the exhaust will only afffect the warranty on the exhaust - not an issue for me - i have the old exhaust to put back on at any future time if i want to.

Strange how with the PPP decat centre, improved downpipe and remap will only gain an extra 2bhp over your mods.

I have ordered my new car now with PPP so will stick with that but its interesting all the same.

p1doc 27 March 2006 10:41 AM

if that is a true figure which it should be if everyone is getting same results as before-great

It it me, or does that graph show wheel HP (in green) as 200hp but calculated engine HP (in blue) as 315hp ?

dynamix 27 March 2006 05:46 PM

314.0 bhp at the flywheel yes

Have they released confirmed figures yet?

TonyBurns 27 March 2006 06:08 PM

Thought there were only 2 cats on these, center section and d/p, so if you have removed the center section... just the 1 cat? but it does show how restrictive the exhausts are.

Tony

dynamix 27 March 2006 06:12 PM

there are two centre sections on 05 cars - 1 with cat in and 1 with the resonator in.

On the 06 car it has changed - the centre pipe containing the second cat is now a diff length to the 05 version and there isnt a way to just drop that part out without changing the downpipe - so I just changed the part that contained the resonator for a straight through pipe and changed the backbox for a better flowing version.

I thought that because the 06 backbox is sooooo quiet it must be robbing tons of power - this proves it and returns the familiar scooby burble to boot.

so to recap - still got two cats :)

Gutmann pug 27 March 2006 06:15 PM

So you got 40bhp from an exhaust ....... doesnt seem feasible

Gutmann pug 27 March 2006 06:17 PM

My old car ran 7bhp higher than before I see (336bhp)...... Has anything else been done to it to get that figure?

dynamix 27 March 2006 06:24 PM

exhaust and air filter - big difference ;)

gary - dunno what jimmy has done to it mate - but there were a few that run under previous figures - and taking 7 bhp off would still leave a few in the bag :)

Gutmann pug 27 March 2006 06:26 PM

Just replied to the aggressive map comments on SC.....pmsl .....

good results all the same

dynamix 27 March 2006 06:49 PM

sorry for my naievity (spelling) :D

Leeroy 27 March 2006 07:05 PM

TSL Group N exhaust
De-resonated centre section
Green Air Filter

314bhp?! I'll have to give the credit card a hammering!:D:D

dynamix 27 March 2006 07:08 PM

track day loosening up must have done some good too :)

16vmarc 27 March 2006 07:33 PM

Dont think i would have put a car with 3k on the clock on the rollers lol!

dynamix 27 March 2006 07:38 PM

or a car with 1200 miles on the clock on the track either :)

I cannot see the graph but if it is how Gary C says the green line is wheel bhp and is 200bhp, I cannot believe that it has suffered over 50% transmission loss. Usually its around 25 to 30% My car has been rolled at 248 at the wheels and came out at 327 about 31% loss so the loss seems very high:confused:

Should be nicely run in for the ring trip in Sept ;)

And great figures, you must be well chuffed

dynamix 27 March 2006 09:30 PM

think it will - and maybe a suprise or two new additions to the figures on top :)

My 06StiJDM is exactly the same, sooooo quiet , I've heard noiser BMW's  sadly my burble won't come back, equal length headers.

Good R/R results and bet it's sounds better ;)

wwp8 27 March 2006 10:50 PM

is it a uk or a jdm

automodellistagt 27 March 2006 11:42 PM

and how does it feel on the road when having spirited driving with other scoobies?

:)

On my own private test track ;) it is very sweet and able to hold its own with a much lighter classic pulling 300/300 ish up to about 110 - still learning how to get the best out of the dccd-a centre diff settings though so cant comment too much on what they compare thorugh the twisties but around snetterton, was more responsive out of bends due to the power band being wider.

btw - it is a TYPE UK so unequal(ish) length headers and normal turbo on there.

This is not a 50% loss its about 35% you started with 314 at flywheel and ended up with 200 at the wheels roughly 2 thirds of the flywheel figure so you are looseing a third through transmisson losses. Cool figures considering whats been done.
