Anyone had a full respray?????

Out polishing the car and i'm starting to find too many stone chips, dings and the odd patch of bubbly paint. Every panel is affected by one of the above so i'm thinking it's time to sort it. (MY99 BTW)
I think the only way forward is full respray. Scoobyclinic will be the boys doing the job but i'm just after a realistic idea how much i'm looking at. I'm gonna ask them for a quote next time i'm down there but i thought i'd ask here first so i know how feasible (sp?) it is for me :D

alright mate, had a fullrespray 3 weeks ago iv got what you said little marks like stone chips and the paint is starting to bubble as well, it cost me £950

struv 25 March 2006 05:40 PM

i charge about a grand for that sort of thing but every jobs different so thats only a guesse on what you told us i might see more wrong with it than you

Brun 26 March 2006 01:30 PM

A grand sounds ok to me :)

RON 26 March 2006 01:33 PM

A grand would be a really good price, but the sort of job that i would be happy with would cost at least double that!!!

I heard a tale of one car that was painted recently, and the bill for the whols shell prep was £37k!!!!! mind you, it was a 275 Ferrari.....

Brun 26 March 2006 05:31 PM

£37k
See what your saying but i don't want to throw £2k at a car that's only worth £4.5k. The paint work is nasty imo so even a half decent job would be nice. I've seen the Clinic's paintwork before and would be more than happy at that :D

struv 26 March 2006 06:30 PM

ron well you would be paying for your arrogance (if thats how its spelt) you have never seen my work so how do you know if you would be happy .i have been spraying cars at 3 main dealers and 2 small body shops since i was 18 and the last 10 years for myself and i dont need to advertise (although i am in yellow pages)and am allways booked solid for at least 2-3 weeks 52 weeks of the year. i have never had a complaint or unhappy customer since setting up my self.i like to give good value (even tho i know other bodyshops in the area charge twice what i do)i make a good living so why rip people off

Where abouts are you based?

StickyMicky 27 March 2006 06:54 AM

i was quoted £2000 to have mine stripped down and redone in white

from the same bloke who charged me £300 to paint the back end red (with me stripping the back end down for him)

P20SPD 27 March 2006 08:15 AM

My full respray, including the engine bay (so adds extra) was over £2k.
