Just filled up with Optimax in Bishop's Stortford - now down to 77.9p / litre, only 4p more expensive than regular unleaded and 1p cheaper than LRP!! When was SUL last this price?

Then managed to set-off the alarm on the BMW behind me when starting up, causing a minor panic in the petrol station shop! ;)

Down to 75.9 @ Shell South Anston (A57 between M1&A1)

AND you get double plus points for Optimax

NUL is now 71.9 round here.

suba 20 October 2001 07:04 PM

what's with the reduction on petrol price lately?

Jenz 20 October 2001 07:10 PM

Where's Shell in Stortford? thanks Jen

sKunk 20 October 2001 07:11 PM

I haven't seen SUL under 80p here in Scotland :(

jon44w 20 October 2001 07:56 PM

get over here lads, nul is 54p a litre and sul is 65p a litre.

if you drive an oil burner its 47p a litre :)

bug-eyed wonder 20 October 2001 07:57 PM

suba: oil prices have collapsed after 11th Sept. Haven't seen petrol collapse yet but most of the price is tax anyway.

bug-eyed wonder 20 October 2001 07:58 PM

jon i presume your talking about a trip over the border! By the way where is SUL available, seems hard to find around my way.

Huge 20 October 2001 09:19 PM

Jen,

Shell I use is in Rye Street in the town centre - road on which Grange Paddocks pool and Hunts Peugeot are situated.

Always seems to be the first around here to adjust prices.

Optimax is 76.9 in Fleet :D

LEE-69 21 October 2001 12:53 AM

why not use www.ispypetrol.co.uk tells you where the cheapest is.

jon44w 21 October 2001 01:04 AM

Bug eye wonder: Your spot on mate. Compare the prices from Northern Ireland to Southern Ireland and youll see why fuel smuggling is a MAJOR problem ;)

sul: north 82p v 65p south
nul: north 78p v 54p south
diesel: north 79p v 47p south

All prices are quoted in stirling per litre.

It cost about 45 quid to fill the evo up north ( 50 litre tank ) and only about 30 quid to fill down south ( rough estimates ) A saving of 15 quid a tank cant be ignored.

jon44w 21 October 2001 01:07 AM

forgot to say that i never have had a problem finding super over the border. if you email me ill tell you where we get our super from.

Jenz 22 October 2001 10:17 AM

Thanks Hugh, I'll give Optimax a go now I knwo where to find it. Jen

here in good old n.ireland it's about 73.9 for regular unleaded. days ago it was 79.9 upwards. apparently the lack of flights is meaning that theres a real surplus of oil about and as the arabs want their money they won't cut production so we benefit :)

do people acutally use more petrol when its cheaper? i mean, the difference in price is nice, but for the average user i wonder what impact it has.

i guess if the prices where to stay down people would buy cars with more thristy engines!! :)

jon44w 22 October 2001 09:13 PM

73.9p ???? wheres that at? the cheapest ive seen it is at 77.9 ( from a reputable garage )

you must buy from a smugglers garage mate ;)

Type R 22 October 2001 09:35 PM

Me thinks i am getting ripped off.

SUL 81.9p
Unleaded 69.7p

12.2p a litre more expensive how can they justify that !!!!

jon44w 23 October 2001 03:32 AM

you and the rest of england/ scotland. it was good to see something being done about it last year, but now everyones fogotten they are still being robbed. :(
