i bought my wrx import last year only to find that it was still registered as a gl not a wrx i sent the log book off to have the car in my name DVLA fcuked it up so have only just had the log book back so......how do i get it changed to a wrx from a gl on the log book and i also had some reciepts for various engine parts and a new engine so i want to look for the engine number to make my motor totally legal rather than getting lifted coz i have a engine number that dont chuffin match

I changed my V5 from GL to WRX by just crossing out the details on the form, and adding a short cover note explaining that it wasn't a GL!
I was changing address at the time, so I though I might as well change it all in one go.

Shouldn't be a problem. Might be an idea to include a phone number in the cover note in case they have any questions.

and where would i find the number on my engine so i can change that too

and by cover note do you mean insurance or just a not explaining that its a wrx not a gl

Yep, just a short letter saying what you want changed and why - ie; change model to WRX because it isn't a GL, and engine number because it's been changed!

Mike

I have had the same problem with my last two cars although not imports.

DVLA advised me to provide proof that the vehicle was a WRX300 and not a WRX. I contacted the supplying dealer and they provided a letter confirming vehicle model. DVLA then re-issued the V5.

I suggest you get a dealer to provide confirmation on headed paper that the model is WRX.
