Im sorry but its smaller clubs like my Jap owners one(SOX) which have now just been informed that because of the SIDC stand there`s no room for us.
They`ve left it till now to give us the news and its not really fair.

As you know, im a Subaru owner myself, but this isnt a Subaru show like the NBO/SBO, its supposed to be a multi-marque thing.
Subarus have dominated it anyhow for the last couple of years, so why should they get more room and stop other regular clubs going?

So, as it stands, I`ve now found out im missing Japfest this year.

Laugh away, but im sure you`d be as P1ssed off as me if you weren`t with the SIDC.

Fair comments mate:Whatever_

DannyBoy007 15 March 2006 06:09 PM

Seems a bit unfair, it's only another 100 Scoobs on top of last years allocation. And arn't they putting us in a different area this year??? Which is bigger and is not noramally used?

v5 man 15 March 2006 06:15 PM

Haven`t got a clue what they`re doing, but you just need to look around the different sites, ie, SOX, GTiR modifiers etc, to see that smaller clubs are being turned away and given the excuse that the SIDCs allocated ticket number is the reason.

Didnt see it from that side of the coin, i wasnt laughing at other clubs not getting in, just the name "scoobyfest" tickled me thats all. :)

Phil 15 March 2006 11:39 PM

Blimey, sometimes you can't win can you

After complaints last year that it was an unorganised muddle the SIDC manage to secure a different area where we can allow our local clubs to do there thing and make a STAND rather than a carpark

We even get our own entrance!!!

This is all thanks to the proactive disscusions the club had with the organisers

terryb 16 March 2006 07:30 AM

There is an easy answer to this - join SIDC and come along and enjoy the day with the rest of the SIDC members :D:D:D

The Knives are out 16 March 2006 09:46 AM

What a good idea ;)

Whats that got to do with Multi-marque clubs like SOX?:wonder:
One question to you Phil Stephens, are all the Japfest tickets you sell on SIDC to members only? (Just curious)

Terry B, my Subaru`s nearly gone and I would have been attending Japfest in my Evo, so joining SIDC wouldn`t really work would it!?

The Knives are out 16 March 2006 11:33 AM

I think what Phil is trying to say is that they have done something for their members so its not their fault

According to site they are only selling members tickets

Yes as the site clearly states its members only.

As an SIDC member we would allow you to bring in other Jap Models. We however are unable to allow NON Jap cars onto the stand.

alloy 16 March 2006 12:57 PM

Fair does to SIDC but i wont be attending Japfest for the same reason as V5 Man. I chose to go with SOX as I have an appreciation for all Jap metal, it's a shame some of the smaller clubs will now not be able to go but **** happens hey!

WRX-Jo 16 March 2006 01:25 PM

Hmm, I see both sides. But surely this would be the fault of the organisers who gave out the tickets in the first place? Perhaps they should have considered this before handing out a batch of 300 to a single club? It sounds like the SIDC just bought what was offered to them/agreed, so can't really be held at fault. The organisers know how much space they have and how many tickets they feel they can assign.

Out of interest, have all of the 300 tickets been sold now? If not, maybe a few could somehow be offered back (to the organisers or directly to other clubs) so that they could be reallocated? Or just set aside a certain amount (say 50 or 100) to non-members and allow them to park in a separate area of our 'stand' so it doesn't matter which marque they represent?

There must be an answer to this - surely we can work something out. Seems wrong to sit back and ignore this whilst others are excluded from the event.

Phil 16 March 2006 02:08 PM

No one is sitting back on this ;)

We hadn't been approached about the lack of space for other club's

I just read about it on several forums "blaming" the SIDC which is really annoying as its not our fault!!

However we will no doubt discuss the situation with Japfest organisers over the next couple of days

v5 man 16 March 2006 03:31 PM

I`d like to state that from the very start(my thread on SIDC), that I have said that this is NOT an SIDC issue, its an organisational issue.
I appreciate Phil has sorted out the SIDC members very well and they have adequate allocation for their needs, but, alas, the organisers are stating it is SIDC`s big stand which has kept us from attending this event this year.

How many members in your club mate?

v5 man 16 March 2006 09:45 PM

Pass, but there were about 27 of our members cars already paid up for Japfest, which is probably the normal amount we`d get.
The forum has hundreds of signed up users, but about 40ish hardcore regular forum posters and show attenders.

mgscooby 18 March 2006 12:43 PM

i would like to add my 2p worth here!!!!

as i was organising the event from sox that cliff has stated, i was told that due to the large amout ticket allocation to sidc and nissan 350z??? it has not allowed the smaller clubs like ourselves to get any space, i am not blamming sidc, its the event organisers that should look into restricting 1 marque clubs as it is ment to be a jap show not a one marque dominant show???

yes i drive a scooby but im intrested in the whole sceen and like to look at all makes etc, not just scoobys.

as i previously stated i dont blame sidc, i know a lot of people are from the forums i have been on as this is what they are being told by the organisers??? i hear what people say about if there are tickets spare from sidc etc give them to the smaller clubs but i do feel that this should of been thought about before and not at the last min. i know that to organise these events is a headache but there is a lot of money they are making from it, and at the end of the day this is what talks, the organisers know that they will get a gauranteed revenue from the likes of sidc etc..........................

its a shame as the show is going to get a name of being a scooby only show with a few other marques there as a token offer, and over time people will be put off............................................... ...

well my rant over,

v5 man 19 March 2006 10:07 PM

:notworthy

Stuart Page 19 March 2006 11:27 PM

Shame about this situation, not right for the organisers to tell other smaller clubs thay can't attend and actually name the bigger clubs... hope there's not a repeat for the other shows later on in the year...
