Cleaning car with graphics

whats the best way to clean and polish a car with vinyl graphics

are there any do's and donts (jet wash??)

do you polish right over the decal or polish around??

any advice would be apreciated. And removing them is not an option :D

Thanks

When I had mine, I washed the car as I would have normally. The decals didn't fade or come out of place.

Dont jetwash because they will start to lift on the corners.
You can polish over them and wash the car in the normal way.

So he gets the answer he wants after a bit of good natured banter. We're a bunch of blokes on a Subaru (not 2CV) forum. If you want hugs and sensitivity try here http://fluffylicious.org/link.php.

Solvent-based polishes are okay, don't use particulate based polishes as they will etch the vinyl if used enthusiastically. Last step products go straight over the top. If the vinyl was applied properly and is of good qualtiy it shouldn't come off with jet washing - mine have survived two years so far with no problems. :)

The best thing for getting glue of from the graphics is whightning chalk just put some on a cloth mix in some sopy water gently rub over the area & let it dry out a bit then just simply rub off. no more hard rubbing & bobbles of glue also it does'nt attack your paint work. when it drys it simply pulls the glue off.:thumb:

StickyMicky 18 March 2006 08:55 PM

or just use tar and glue remover and save yourself the trouble
