Brake upgrade WRX 05 let's get bigger
My WRX Checklist:
1. Wish I had just saved up more for an STI 2. Get over 1. and get tinkering 3. PPP (done) 4. Prodrive Spring set and geometry set up (done) 5. Brembo brake coversion (next) 6. 18" PFF7's 7. Sell it and buy an STI Next item is bigger brembo brakes for my 05 WRX However at the mo' i can only afford to do the fronts. The question is: How safe is running brembos up front with my standard wrx at the rear? I assume ok? Can I /should I put the standard 4 pots from the front on to the rear? Wait until i can afford F AND R and get a professional to do them? Cheers :thumb: Trevor |
brembos upfront
I run my bugeye with brembos up front and standard brakes at the rear with no problems. As far as i am aware you need to change the rear hubs to fit rear brembos hence why i did not bother.Sold the car, removed the brembos beforehand and aim to fit them to my 04 wrx soon, they do make a big difference!
All the best |
by the way you forgot uprated rear anti-roll bar and drop links in your list! :D

You will need to do 6. before 5. as 5. won't fit under WRX wheels - I have tried and failed.

Trevor, what about fitting the Godspeed 335mm kit on the front which uses the standard caliper but moved out to allow for bigger discs, this set-up fits in WRX wheels.... and then match the pads on the rear... no-one as far as i know has fitted front 4 pots on the rear.... it's not needed!

MY06 WRX has PCD 5x100 instead of MY05 STI which has PCD 5x114,3 thus you can only fit Brembos from pevious MY STI's and as mentioned before you need also wheels that fit an STI <MY05 not your WRX!
Although David at API engines supply take off MY06 Brembos with zero miles with 5x100 PCD (new stud holes). JIM |
Thanks Jim, :thumb: We can supply delivery mileage Brembos off STi Impreza for either 100 pcd or 114 pcd I have good stock of both.
However, those above me are correct, you won't get Brembos under WRX wheels it's not a diameter thing, its a back of the spokes clearance thing. We also do PFF 7 copies at right money; Silver, Chrome silver, Bronze, Graphite, Gold, White and Silver with black shading on the edges of the spokes. There's a graphite set on one of my sales cars for you to view at http://www.apiengines.com/car_sales_detail.php?id=18 Good luck give me a call if we can help. David APi Impreza / APi Engines |
