silly question

I've already had a gearbox rebuild, (nearly 18months ago), on my MY00 UK wagon (280ish), ; both 4th and 5th syncros changed. I getting very similar problems with 5th after only 15k miles and massive clutch slip if i try to launch it in both 1st and 2nd. I know i need to change the clutch but I don't want to fork out for that and then discover the box is on its way out so I have to have it apart again after fitting the new clutch...i was thinking of sourcing an sti v6 box and swapping it out, any ideas\recommendation, including price would be gratefully received.

cheers,
ian

From what i've heard on the grapevine...the sti 6 box's are hardly any better than the WRX box....

very true....pretty much all the 5 speeders will take (or not) similar power :)

what about the type R boxes, i thought they were all good to around 350?

i really don't want the expense of buying a six speeder and the knock on insurance costs...not to mention the gearbox stiring that six speeders always seem to require.
