HELP
My PC Speakers have started making horrible noises!
No, it has NOTHING to do with my old records playing ;) They kind of hum, like they are picking up stray signals .... I've moved them, checked the wiring run, lowered the levels on the PC - they still have that 'humming/screeching' kind of sound. Any ideas? Anything in the software to tweak? Chuck them out? Cheers for any help! Pete |
are you running SETI?
It could be your computer picking up stray signals from the neocranics mother ship that is currently in star zone gamma omega 2 (some 50,924722 light years away) :wonder: Or it could be that they are nearing the end of their life and just require a new set (can get keyboard optical mouse and speakers for about £7) |
Hello
If you have a DECT phone or a mobile phone near the speakers then those kind of noises can be heard. The mobile phone is usually in bursts, the DECT continuous. Steve |
Thanks for that .... don't think its the phone (certainly not a mobile, I know those sounds).
As for the geek suggesting the Mothership contacting me - get help!! ;) Pete |
or it could be that even your computer hates you
|
|
I reckon it's your hearing aid playing up again Pete. ;)
|
If you unplug the speakers Pete then they will stop making odd sounds.
HTH :) |
Sounds like electrical interference due to being soaked in pi$$

Ok, Ok, what have I done to deserve this?? ;) ;) :D
Can't an old simple generous loving fella get help anymore? Pete |

How old are they Pete and what make and model? Cheapos or semi-decent ones? Are they, and have they been, near your monitor for any length of time? Where is the amplifier, in the speaker itself or in a separate box of electronics?
Sounds to me like they're on the way out. Get yourself a decent setup ;) |
