DIY det cans..?

Read a thread the other day that had a link to this page http://users.wpi.edu/~mark944/nested...knockstuff.htm

that has a description of how to make an interface allowing your PC mic input to record what a KL sensor is hearing.

I quite fancy giving it a go but the instructions regarding the wiring circuit seem a bit vague.

Anyone able to clarify or had a go at a similar thing..? ;)

Cheers,
Jason:)

Looks like he is just using the resistors in series to drop the voltage down to a sensible mic level for the laptop mic input, The capacitor would be there as a DC protection for the laptop mic input.

The Knock sensor is basically a microphone anyway so you should be able to record directly off it.

It would be wise to just check the output voltage from the knock sensor so you can work out what dropping resitors you really need. You would not want to be seeing any more that 0.775v which i memory serves me correctly is +4dBu at the mic input to the recording device.

Dan.
