Request for Help; Resident of London needed

What I need is for somebody who lives in London [or close by] to test drive/inspect a car for me...

I cannot do this personally since I live too far away; I plan on having the car shipped to me if everything works out.

I'd be willing to compensate you for your time/trouble. [I'd also be extremely grateful]

Easy way to earn a few quid! :thumb: The car is located near the London Galleria Shopping Center.

[Apologies if I misused that term. I'm not English.]

Please PM or email me if you're interested in helping me out. My email is: ketracel@gmail.com

Whereabouts in London? There's a Galleria in Hatfield, north of London.

ce127 01 March 2006 01:15 PM

The address of the dealership is:

394 Washwood Heath
Zip: B82UX
London, UK

That's Washwood Heath Rd., Birmingham not London :( About 100 miles away

If you google the address, it comes back as a newsagents

ce127 01 March 2006 01:28 PM

Oh, seriously?

Man, I was told that they were located in London.

Strange...

Now I'm confused... For reference, though... this location isn't in London, then... correct?

Correct! Postcode B8 2UX (which is how it should be written) comes up as Wash Wood Rd. Birmingham. 100 miles north of London.

Where are you?

Houghton 01 March 2006 01:53 PM

Take a look at this street map:

ce127 01 March 2006 02:03 PM

I'm located in the US. *shrug*

Looks like somebody's trying to scam me, then...

Figures...

ce127 01 March 2006 02:18 PM

The reason I was willing to even entertain the possibility of a transaction with these people was because they were willing to allow me to send somebody to inspect the car, and they were also willing to use an escrow service of my choosing.

That sounded pretty non-characteristic of a scammer...

Can't advise there :(

Are they a dealer or private? Do you have a phone No?

ce127 01 March 2006 09:01 PM

Don't know if you've heard of a dealership called "Real Clean Cars"

URL:

http://www.realcleancars.com/contactus.html

:wonder:

Very suspect. Real Clean Cars has to be the corniest name ever. The English is pretty poor and the presentation is utter cr@p. The address description is somewhat bogus too. Postcode isn't laid out right and it's still a Birmingham postcode with a London 'address'

Sorry ce127 I'd give it up if I were you.

Houghton 01 March 2006 10:57 PM

PS The fax No. isn't a recogniseable UK No. Looks more like a US one.

Nick98 01 March 2006 11:00 PM

Whatever you do - don't do it !! I would say most definately a scam. There is no way a 2004 VW Toureg would sell for 14,500 dollars inc shipping. I bet they want your money up front as well?

Stay well clear and save your money for a real car from a real person.

Houghton 01 March 2006 11:05 PM

Also, don't know of any UK dealers who only stock LHD cars.

ce127 02 March 2006 04:01 AM

I'm definitely giving this one up. Way too good to be true.

Also, I Carfaxed a few of the cars... most of the are still located in the US. -_-

Stupid people...
