I know I have done a stupid thing

I completly drained all the brake system of fluid. When trying to bleed the system and get the brakes going again it wont have it. I blead each wheel and there is no air coming out of the system, but the pedle still nearly goes to the floor.
Is there something extra I have to do to get it going I have bled the system over and over to no availe.

I have a STI V2 Type RA. None ABS.

Are you bleeding furthest away, then progressing to nearest the master cylinder?
When i've had this on my Impreza (Sti v3 with ABS) I've simply left it over night/24 hours and checked then.

I know how frustraighting this can be.

Don't know the brakes on your model but years ago I had similar on a renault 19 16v with sliding calipers. Even conteplated replacing master cylinder thank F renault didn't have one. turned out to be sliding pins were siezed. Removed and cleaned WOW brakes. Hope this might help if not best of luck.

Check to see if there's a bleed point on the master cylinder too.
My cd manual shows one on the Newage cars and you need to bleed this too if you manage to empty the system completely.
Failing that get a pressure bleeding kit and try that.

Drained the brake fluid???? :eek: Too darn right about your opinion of the actions.

Quite possible that there is a little non return valve at the bottom of the fluid reservoir that is not allowing the master cylinder to prime - putting the reservoir under pressure with a few bleed nipples open should push some fluid in there so it can actually pump something. Had to do that before on various cars when trying to prime a new master cylinder.

How you go about doing that is down to your own intiative though - as I have a one man bleeder pump that does it for me. ;)

If all else fails, as suggested above get a pressure bleeder (Halfrauds) always worked for me after totally draining a system, makes it a one man operation and none of that endless pumping of the brake pedal ;) best of luck mate

First a big thanks to all that wrote and tried to help. I can't embarrass my self more, so this is what happened next.

Before drains the system, I had already changed the rear discs and pads, like wise the front, but fitting Godspeed big break conversion. I had previously bought Subaru 4 pots. For good measure I fitted Goodridge hoses front and back.

Then I had the problem of not being able to bleed the system.

I took it to my local garage. It was up on the jack for a few minutes and the mechanic came in and said good or bad news. Here we go.

Embarrassed yet again but, I only share this so no one will make the same mistake.

The news was, when I replaced my sliding calipers for my 4 pots. I had put the calipers on -----wait for it with the bleed nipple at the lower end in other words the caliper up side down. When you have finished laughing.

You will be pleased to know my local garage just charged me for the brake fluid, because I had give them all such a good laugh. So all ends well.

Good news. Hold your head up you tried and have admitted you got it wrong. Respect to you. ANyone who says they never get anything wrong is a liar. Maybe get a CD off ebay for any other jobs though! ;-)

Dear Mr Numpty,
Can I join your club? I did the same thing when refitting my calipers after painting them. Only thing that stopped me from ending up in your shoes was the brake hose wouldn't reach/fit properly!
In my defence i'd only refitted one caliper before I realised.
