How do you re-fit the headlight adjuster ball so the adjuster works again?

Just done a search and it looks like the adjusting screw which is attached to some sort of ball to make the headlight switch move up and down has come loose on both headlights ( it sounds like a common thing maybe). It also sounds that it might be a case of taking the headlight out and pushing the ball into place! Has anyone ever had this type of problem with their car before? If so do you fancy telling me how to fix it?

bttt

I've got a similar problem. Anyone have experience with the adjusters ? I took mine out of the headlight and can't get them back in and working !

I think it may be that you've screwed the adjuster to a point where the male side has parted company with the female part - you need to connect the two parts so the adjuster takes up drive again. You'll need to get the reflector etc back to a position where the screw will engage with the hole and this may mean removing a bulb or two and using your finger etc to ease the reflector back whilst turning the adjuster...

Ideally you wouldn't touch the reflectors with bare skin due to the potential of marking them.

and you screw it in by turning the hex head bolt on the adjuster body
