M25 on monday morning - traffic load info??

Will be driving to Gatwick tomorrow morning and I am considering using, or not using the M25. anyone on here know what it is like between the M3 and the M23 at about 7:30am on a monday morning???

Thanks in advance

Heavy no doubt. Although most of the traffic will be going from M3 clockwise towards M4, IMO / EXPERIENCE

M3 is one of the busiest junctions joining the M25, so expect it to be busy. There is normally more traffic going towards Heathrow, but that doesn't mean it will be flowing OK towards the M23. Expect the worst would be my advice - Monday mornings are always the worst.

Your best bet is stay tuned into the traffic info on the radio and check one of the many traffic websites before you set off.

Chris is spot on ...Traffic on the M3 starts to build up heavily between Junctions 4 & 3 (just before the M25) after about 6.45 on a Monday so I'd certainly avoid it around 7.30

Where are you travelling up from??

mart

M3 northbound traffic varies greatly, from day to day, I should know, I do it everyday!

Allow 30 mins from Junction 4 to the M25 at J2. It has improved lot since the M25 went to 6 lanes. As said previously, anti clockwise traffic is normally Ok.

Also, if you're travelling from Taunton (as your handle suggests), and intend coming along M4 and then across through Bracknell to the M3 at lightwater, you're in with a very good chance of getting snarled up on the M4 on a Monday morning passing Reading as well - pretty much guaranteed to be snarled up well before 8am from J11-J12 eastbound

thanks for advice, I plan to come up the A303 onto the M3 then on to the M25.

Might leave earlier, probably reaching them M25 by around 7am.

The other option is to go south through salisbury towards southampton then along the M27 - A27 then up to Gatwick, which keep me completely away from london but does involve some smaller roads.
