ALK fitting. Is it worth it?
Hi,
I've just fitted whiteline droplinks / rear ARB to MY05WRX and very pleased over the improvement it has made both in terms of cornering and understeer. I'm changing to prodrive springs soon. I've done lots of search both on scoobynet and web on fitting ALK but not sure whether it is worth. Any one here fiitted ALK after droplins/ARB/upgraded springs route? Any advice welcome. Kemp |
Lots of people have and are happy.

I fitted front and rear 22mm ARB's and the ALK at the same time (Prodrive springs are standard), so can't comment on what made the most difference out of the parts. What I can tell you is the sum of all these parts has transformed the handling of the car.
You will need to have a geometry setup done after you fit the ALK. I would recommend Powerstation :) Anders |
Anders,
Is the ALK easy to fit without specialist tools? Does it reduce understeer as well? Andy |
To a small degree.
they are a DIY job, but you will nedd a front-end alignment after. Graham. |
Although only the front suspension is undone for the ALK fitment, Our laser aligment kit works off the thrust axis of the whole car so you've got to put the back end straight before you sort out the front. :D

The car turns in quicker than you are used to :) I'd totally recommend Powerstation for fitting the kit and geometry setup. I drove a 350 mile round trip to them and it was worth every penny. Funny how every Powerstation customer joins the Sales Team!

Had the ALK done on mine by Powerstation ( after already having rear 22mm ARB and droplinks ). Definately does make a difference and is worth doing. As said above - turn in is much sharper and takes a while to get used to. To begin with you turn in too early and have to adjust !
As above - had bumpsteer ( classic MY00 ) and full alignment done at same time. |
Is there anywhere around the yorkshire area that does geometry set up, and reliable?
Was looking at Powerstation but to far away for me;) Cheers, Ian. |
Try AS Performance (Stockcar on here) He is in the north east
