Cheapest place to buy EBC pads and discs online?

Yellow or red stuff pads and TG discs all round. £394 to beat

1995 WRX :thumb:

:luxhello:

GrahamG 16 February 2006 02:35 PM

EBC direct..... look in brake section.......

Ray_li 16 February 2006 02:40 PM

http://www.camsport.co.uk/

You won't find cheaper.

I "heard" EBC complained about their prices :lol1:

Pars 16 February 2006 02:45 PM

Heh thanks Ray li :D

Is Yellow stuff a reasonable choice given that I don't take the car on track... I kinda just like the idea of the yellow pads peeping out :D

The car is red, see :D

V4JDMSTi 16 February 2006 03:00 PM

have red stuff on mine. they take enough warming up and will give you a few scares. after sitting at motorway speeds and needing to brake, they take a couple of seconds to warm up and start to work properly. be careful with pads imo. if not using for track days and just day to day driving go for greens or reds at most.

got mine from camsport in a group buy. want to organise one for us? ;)

Pars 16 February 2006 03:17 PM

I have used Red stuff until now... just wanted to try something new :)

Yellows may be too much for the road as they take quite a bit of heavy braking to warm them up, Go for the red stuff ceramic & paint the backs any colour you wish :D :D

EBC don't recommend green in a scooby. :)

if you don;t mind me asking, how many miles have you had out of yours?

and what about sorting that gb with camsport? ;)

cw42 16 February 2006 03:55 PM

pars, I used up 2 sets of red stuff in my old classic, then not long before I sold it, and prior to doing 2500 miles in europe up mountains, I switched to yellow stuff. I found them to be much better at cold braking, and more consistent on long stretches of prolonged braking. I would recommend them if your looking for something different.
chris.

Pars 16 February 2006 03:59 PM

Thanks for that cw42 :)

mneame: Prolly abat 12k but that's a vague guess

Pars 16 February 2006 04:09 PM

EBC Direct using the scooby58 code gets the price down to £374 but there is no option to choose Yellow Stuff for my car year :(

Has to be Red Stuff it seems...

Have you considered Mintex 1144s? Bit dearer but very good.

I'll see as I'm trying to sell my scooby at the mo but a chance to bug a current web sponser with a cheaper product is tempting :D

Greens are for lightweight hot hatches .........They are not for heavyweight scoobs. If you buy them its because you are too tight to buy pads which are made for your car :cuckoo:

Buy some decent pads, NOT EBC GREEN

Pars 16 February 2006 08:22 PM

Opinionated reply there Gutmann

What pads would you recommend?

I have never run greens but have run reds and now wish to run yellows.

Gutmann pug 16 February 2006 08:48 PM

pars .... read the web-site and it tells you which pad is for which car. Greens were always for lightweight hot hatches NOT for heavier cars such as scoobs. Not even for road use. A dealer worth his salts will tell you this when you ring and ask.

Call it opinionated or call it reading the web-site.

Of course they may have changed it in the last 6 months, but I doubt it.

Gary

Edited to say pads I would use depend on how you use a car. Reds are ok for reasonable road use and light track work (wear out quite quick though) Pagid Yellows were my last choice and are excellent as they are endurance race pads.

brihoppy 16 February 2006 09:32 PM

on this subject, my discs will need changing soon and i know its best to change the pads as well...i dont intend to change the brakes themselves, so what are the best discs and pads to get for a few hundred...?

and does different kit perform alot differently...?

cheers for any input...

Try Autosave in Bridgwater, Somerset. I have never been able to find anyone to beat there prices. They will do mail order but no website that I know of.

nezz.

ebc website appears to offer them as an oe quality pad and the reds as an uprated product.

mate had greens on his 328i and they were fine. bit heavier than a scoob i think.

not too tight to buy pads that were made for my car. if you read my post properly it says that i've already got reds on it. they've just worn out really quick. was going to change to green as i thought that they'd last longer so:cuckoo: to you too. ;)

selling the scooby :nono: ;) let us know if you do the gb. might be up for some discs as well this time.

Mick 17 February 2006 11:37 AM

I tried EBC Greens a few years back - when they were recommended :wonder: There was a horrible burnt sort of smell whenever I arrived at work (country lane route :norty: ) I was glad to see they changed the recommendation - I wouldn't have put greens on again...

Hi

Make a note of the Redstuff Ceramic part number, eg DP31200C. Change the first number, 3 to a 4, eg DP41200, this gives you the Yellowstuff part number. Enter the Yellowstuff part numbers required, into the EBC Part number quick search box to add them to your cart.

Buck

We have had customers who even though we strongly advise Reds for Impreza's, still want to keep their order for Greens. (We always contact the customer if they order Greens for an Impreza to advise of the recommendation.)

Upon selecting an Impreza Turbo there is a note below the brake part numbers stating EBC Technical recommend Reds for this car.

Buck
