A-Plan..quoted me happy(ish)

£640 fully comp (£350 excess) on std MY99 UK Turbo. 31 years old, 5+ years protected no claims, no claims or convictions. Liverpool postcode.(No scouser jokes please!!!).
Cheapest by about £100, but still would have liked it under £600...
Very helpful people though.

Well done to A Plan for insuring all these young(ish) drivers with no experience.

Sure we'll all look back at these sorts of post's at renewal time whilst moaning about why insurance costs have gone up. :Whatever_

I am just about to pick up my new impreza and have been reading some of these comments about a plan.
How can they do these qoutes so cheap campared to other companies.
Are they cheaper for a reason as i would rather pay more and get a good policy.
For what its worth greenlight and gary at keith micheals both beat my price a plan gave me and also seemed very frendly to talk to. Wasnt impressed with the man at a plan seeming so fake:- oh an impreza is a great car i wish i could have one.

Ye Moley, unfortunately i wasnt born 30 years old with a wealth of driving experience :Whatever_

If you want to roll your eyes and moan then read the driving dynamics section and all the 'well i was doing 40mph and i floored it in 2nd and my car spun and i was like WOW THAT WAS ACE how do i make it happen again??' threads. :cuckoo:

Not every younger (23 aint young lol?) is a dickhead driver...:D

See you old timers on the roads somewhere... probably as i cruise nicely past your car which is backed into a hedge after you tried something you read in the driving dynamics forum :lol1:

All in good spirits though, Chris :)

I rest my case.

Mate i am not saying you in particular will crash, but you might be suprised how different an Impreza is from what you have driven before.

Just be careful in it, and not from an insurance point of view.

Nobody drives an Impreza to crash on purpose, but these things happen.

I got my Impreza when i was 24 and paid over £1400 to insure it.
The reason? Lots of claims on Imprezas. In the last 2-3 years a lot of companies have made it hard to Insure an Impreza FOR A REASON, and now the claim stats have started to fall.

All i am saying is if one company start insuring anyone who wants one too cheaply then soon we will all be in the same situation as a few years ago, when everyone was paying far too much in the end.

And i am posting this NOT as an insurance broker, but as a Scooby owner who doesn't wanna have to pay more than i have to.

Oh, i learnt how to drive on the tarmac, not the internet by the way  ;)

chrisola 17 February 2006 09:56 PM

heh, yeah i hear where you are coming from matey.

Actually..reading stuff online about people spinning cars etc almost makes me want to keep with my little 120bhp FWD go kart that i have now!! but i've always dreamed of something like an impreza (well ever since thinking it was the coolest car on the really old Network Q Rally PC game :P)

I know you werent targeting me out or anything, and i was just having a joke with you :)

I've actually found companies (A-Plan for one) that wont even insure the car i drive (a saxo) anymore due to the number of bad claims recently.. or if they do they load the premium (The AA, norwich union, tesco etc).. so i kind of appreciate the whole cheaper premiums mean there are more younger\inexperienced drivers about to raise up the sensible drivers premiums effect, and i've had to haggle like mad to get my premium down each year with elephant (a good lie about x company can do this for me worked well..).

Going to test a couple at the weekend anyway.. who knows maybe i wont like driving one!!

I DO know i wont be booting it away from roundabouts in the wet or trying to emulate some dodgy manouver i've read about\seen colin mcrae do :P

I pay in circa of 750 fully comp.
Max no claims, 24 years driving (10 as HGV1 )

I had a golf gti when i was 18, yes the 1.8.
dad bought it.

Insured me.

What did i do?
Crashed it. Almost wrote it off. Dad was just glad i was still alive after he seen the car.

In my wisdom as you get older i said dad why did you let me drive a car like that?
He said you always drove it sensibly when i was around.
True, but as soon as he left it was Grand Prix.

Now I'm an old fart and the scoobey is not a tool i abuse.
I love the power, but age brings along a respect that i did not have when i was younger.
If I had the scoob when i was 18 and know i would be here no more. I had no self control!

JAKbauuer24 18 February 2006 03:02 AM
