can you buy SATA dvd writers, for some reason my computer wont recognise my ide drives and since i only use it for my writer i was wondering if i can buy a dual layer SAT drive from any where ???

Couldn't comment on whether the drive is any good though.

after i put that up i staring a better search and found that one, but i need a black one. but at least i now know you can get them :D

Another option would be to fit an IDE controller card to one of your PCI slots.

Expect to pay about £20 for the card, allowing connection of multiple DIE devices.

This would give you the flexibility to buy whatever DVD writer you please (in whatever colour)

PS The Plextor burner is a good bit of kit should you decide on the SATA route.

Before you say it. It is silver. It mentions that it has both a white and Black swappable bezel. ;)

Carnt go wrong with a Plextor mate :)

BTW they are out of stock on that 1 @ the mo ( so it says )

A IDE controller / Pioneer 110 is the way i'd go TBH , V.good drive & cheaper :)

gonna see if i can get a nice SATA dual layer from a shop tomorrow, i have an IDE controller but all my pci slots are taken care off !!
