Probably only the dundonian one could answer this but here goes anyway !

Seeing as i dont *cough* pay *cough* for my diesel, i suppose its just a waste having the TT & filling it with optimax at 96p a litre

So looking to purchase one of the above

Opinions would be apprieciated

I did about 6 months ago, just because it was cheap ;)

It just sits in the garage & comes out to sit next to my new 535d Tourer at the weekends :D

Haha... "The Dundonian One" :lol1:

With you being a 535d owner then I'm sure you already know how smooth the BMW diesels are. The engine pulls very strongly from low revs, runs out of puff at about 4.5k. Economy suffers slightly from the hard-top versions due to the increased weight, but on average, we get 40mpg without too much hassle... increase the pace and you're looking at mid 30s. You would have to be treating it very badly to drop it to an average of high 20's IMO.

Performance is brisk, as a yard stick, a friends 270bhp Celica GT4 couldnt pull away from 20-50mph and then from 50-90 I started to edge past him. I'm sure that once the speeds increased.. I would probably start to pull a greater lead.

Interior is very well put together, its business as usual, standard E46 dashboard.. well laid out etc. I would say you can carry 4 average sized adults in the car without discomfort, however rear leg room is limited if you drive with your seat base right back.

Boot is accommodating, even more so with the roof up and the "extra" space unlocked by raising the compartment which the roof folds into.

Ours is an M-Sport in Black with Red Leather and it looks absolutely superb when cleaned up, very sporty and classy IMO.

The only niggle with it is that I think the roof insulation and road noise is better in an A4 Cabrio, but the Audi 2.5 TD unit is very rough and returns poor economy.. plus is FWD only. :(

As an overall package its great and to be honest its impressed me more than I thought it was going to. I dont think that you can buy better than the BMW in the sector.

First Cabrio, First Diesel.. Very impressed!! :thumb:

If you have any specific questions and areas you would like comment on then fire away. :)

Cheers,
Grant

Haha, didnt take you long to make up your mind... My review would have been the deciding factor, yes?? :p:lol1:

What Spec/Colour Combination did you go for?? The hardtop will come in useful with the 'lovely' weather we have for 340days of every year. :thumb:

Grant
