Not true my friend. The z4 ecu was fitted in the c series japanese saloon cars for the 94-96(ish) model years.
Your wagon has been modified if it has a z4 ecu. It would have probably had a 3b ecu and the smaller td04 if it is a japanese car or a maybee a 6D ecu and td05 turbo if it is a uk car.
Nothing wrong with that ecu in your car though altough it does prefer super unleaded.
I myself actaually run a td05 and z4 ecu in my jap 1995 wagon but only cos i swapped em in there!:)
Going back to the question the bennifits of the z4 ecu are slightly higher boost (12.7psi) compared to earlier jap and uk ecus and better suited to uk fuel compared to earlier jap ecus. In short The z4 ecu was one of the best and last ecus for the pre 96 Japanese cars. It will work in UK saloon or wagon but it may stop the car going over 112mph.

Z4 ecu

I have a 1993 wrx impreza will the Z4 ecu be worth putting it in the car ie what bhp should i expect to gain and what would be a good price for one.

Thanks everyone

I put one in my '93 for a few months, but to be honest the difference was barely noticeable. It does have a higher boost target and is generally regarded as being safe on 97 RON fuel, which is probably the main benefit.

Anything more than £150 is too much to pay.

Z4 ecu

so the main benifits of fitting a Z4 ecu would be it can be run on 97 octaine.

any other benifits????

I thought the standard k 1993 scoobys where 240bhp then if you add a z4 ecu you get an added 20bhp due to the way the fueling is set up on a z4, hence more boost ?
I myself have the 1993 import wrx and in a few weeks Im going to get a z4 and fit it :) 20bhp extra is all good, as for only going 112mph, isnt that due to the cars restricting, therefore if your car is de-restricted it should do over 112mph easy, mines been derestricted and does more than 112 :nono: was only derestricted last September, Ive been told to fit an Sti Panel filter with my z4 ecu which will give me a little extra push, so if your standard 240, with a z4 ecu and panel filter, am sure you'll get 20bhp+, correct me if i'm wrong on this anybody.

240 bhp would be on jap 100 ron fuel. you will not get that output over here, even with optimax and octane booster. The Z4 will give slight gains and is more suited for UK fuel
