Bottom went bang the day after i picked it up.

Now its got a brand new bottom on it and will be looked after accordingly ie oil changes every 5k, warmed and cooled down etc!!!!

Changing the oil and warming up and cooling down will help but at the end of the day they are running on an sti 5 import ecu too much ignition advance for british fuel that is how they get 300bhp at 14 psi , thus many blow due to detonation , a knocklink to monitor is a good idea or a re-mappable ecu re-mapped is best .

still nice cars good luck (also from chester) silver classic wrx

Don't see how detonation causes the bottom end to fail, I always thought detonation melted the pistons, every P1 i've seen has had the crank knocked out due possibly to lubrication problems, several of them shortly after being serviced?
