National Treasure & The Da Vinchi Code
 

Anybody noticed how many similarities there are between the two!

Cant really remember National Treasure but cant wait for the da vinci code. gonna start reading the book again next month.

Both mention the treasure stashed away by the Knights Templar and the pyramids on the american doller.

Dunno how factual it all is though.

film wasnt great, the blonde made it less of a drag though.

Yeah, i meant the context in which theyre talked about in the book.

Finished the Da Vinci Code a week or so ago, never heard of National Treasure. Whats it like?


Mart, I take it you have read Angels and Demons as well as the Da Vinci Code, you mention the illuminati! I have just started it, it is difficult to comprehend that these things do actually exist!! :)

National Treasure is your typical action/adverture film but with the facts of the da vinchi code. Youve got to pay attention at times though!

Ive read Angels & Demons too, got a little far fetched for me at the end. Youll see what i mean when you get there! Dan Browns certainly done his research though.

Read all of his stuff (lots of airline flights)

just picked up Matthew Reilleys seven wonders today (b/d pressy) hmm now theres a difficult descision tonight !!!!

do a go for a night of romance or a good book ????

I finished reading Digital Fortress the other week, not as good as Angels & Demons and The Da Vinchi Code though. After reading 3 of his books i found he repeats himself alot too!

I read the Da Vinci code and I thought to myself, 'I wonder what the fuss was all about'.

It was a good book, but I've read better. :)

I prefered Digi Fortress over Angels and Demons to be honest, I found the book was never ending. It had lots of oportunities but it just carried on going and going....

Read the first few chapers of the other... whats it called, Iceberg or something on the front cover. Couldnt get into that one though....

Isn't it the same character throughout the series though? Continuation I would have thought ;)

Claire, the guy Robert Langdon is only in Angels and Demons and Da Vinci Code, not in the other 2...

He has another book coming out this year IIRC

I like Dan Browns books, but you could just do a 'fill in the blanks' for all of them.

Prologue: Person dies in unexpected/unusual way - later turns out to be key to plot.

Hero is introduced, as is love interest, usually a mixture of government employee and university lecturer or similar academic. They get caught up in world/religous/government conspiracy and outwit all agencies involved. The baddy employes some sort of killer, either strange occult or mystic based (Angels and Demons, Da Vinci Code) or secret service/special forces based (Deception Point/Digital Fortress). Said heroes entrust all their suspicions to someone they trust, who turns out to be the villain. After a long chase, with alot of very clever clues, the hero and heroine fight a battle with their persuers, killing them in unlikely ways, usually after they have been at the assassins mercy at least once. The tru villain is then incovered, much to everyones surprise (not) and they save the day. The hero and heroine then screw. And that really is all 4 of his books in a nutshell.

Best of luck to him though, people buy them in droves.

Thats what I like about them, I cant stand reading a "normal" book, theyre so slow and boring.

Dan Brown tends to stretch the truths/facts, but makes good "train fodder". Seeing loads of people reading Dan Brown books on the daily commute. Da Vinci Code is good, but i think Deception Point is more gripping.

I thought Deception Point was the best of the lot

No doubt it won't make it to the big screen though. It's eminently more believable than Da Vinci Code!

Even more scary is that the new Pope was the former head of the Inquisition! (only remamed at the turn of the last century)!

You didnt expect the Inquisition now, did you?

They never do.....

May be Dan Brown will become the next Tom Clancy and have a series of films released based on his books. Deception Point would make a great film, but don't think it will be allowed with the amount of ridicle of the American polical system.
