Battery

Does anyone know how much it would cost for a new battery(for a 2001 wrx) from a main dealer??

has anyone tried the halfauds own brand type, they say for £55 i can get one with 4 years warranty. (which dont sound too bad to me)...

cheers

P.s
i do miss the search facility:(

Lots have fitted the Halfords one - £55

Subaru may actually be cheaper? But I doubt it!

That's cheap, mine cost me £75 with a 4 year guarantee. Can't remember the make, but it's not a Subaru one.

Auto express did a battery test a while back, the halfords one came out better than some well known makes. Just get the largest Ah rating you can get to fit the space.

They do tend to delete old tests.

New battery for a MY00 from Subaru dealer was £58.

Subaru, don not make their own batteries though, do they?

So surely you would prob just be buying the same battery, just rebranded for more money.

I also have a MY01 in need of a new battery. (alarm keeps going off)

If I change it, does it affect the immobiliser/alarm system?

i.e. will it need re-setting or something?

Ted.

We are getting a Bosch one from Revolution next week with a 3 or 5 year guarantee for only £60.

I think i've been bummed on the price

I got the out of the garage this afternoon to see if there is any numbers on the battery before i set off to halfords, and i noticed that there is a "max level and a minimum level" for the fluid/acid on the front of the battery.
i could also see that the fluid/acid was about 10mm below the minimum level, so off i goes down to the local motor factors for a bottle of distilled water, got home topped it up and put it on trickle charge for an hour....

Not sure if this is going to acheive anything but i will see how it goes over the next week or so...

We started getting a flat battery about 2 weeks ago and we done exactky the same, topped up the levels with distilled water, but now we need a new battery, the alarm kept going off the other day and I was up and down the garden path every 10 mins coz of the alarm, in the end the battery has ended up being disconnected, it is totally flat, we have had to jump it each time we need to use it, which was only a couple of times last week, before anyone says jumping it is bad, I already know that, only done it a couple of times.
So your distilled water will probs work for a little while, we thought we had it sussed when it was starting straight away no bother after topping up the levels but now it is dead as a dodo. So you probs need a battery anyways.
