Adrian Flux.......
Anyone dealt with them?
I used the SN link, entered my details and got a quote for about £620. This is at first glance quite a good deal. However, as I 'kin hate insurance co's  I thought i'd phone and check. Lo and behold the e-mailed quote was nothing more than a thinly veiled lie to get me to call them. They took me through all of my details again and then slipped in a few additional questions. reworked the quote and it came out at £798  Almost £200 more than the initial quote. There should be a law about that  MY00 UK, 5yrs NCB, me and the missus, £400 excess, moderate mods. Currently with Direct line, same brief, £698 , £250 excess So much for being the UK's TOP specialist motor broker as banded about on the web page  Gridlock  |
Adrian Flux insured me on my Peugeot 106 GTi and I was very happy with them (and that included a claim against a 3rd party). I found their quote for my scooby wasn't up to much though.
Generally I think with specialist insurers you have to phone 'em up rather than use the online forms. I'd recommend trying Gary Moulson at Keith Michaels (see other threads for the phone number). And no I'm not on commission! |
They wont insure me :D
I find them laughable, all the boy racer mags wank over them because they got insured on the kitted up clap trap. I havnt read such mags for 3 years by the way!!! They were £150 dearer than tesco on my first car. Mentioning my Impreza caused the person on the other end to faint! |
I rang them past two years running to be told they don't insure imprezas anymore. Wouldn't even quote. I'm in my mid thirties so no boy racer. Other people seem to be still getting cover from them though.
|
I used to be with them years ago on an old car, quoted me £4000 when i changed to the Impreza.
I would never ever use them again, and same goes for a lot of my friends!!! (Cancel a policy with them and see what happens!!!) ;) ps.......i am posting this as a PERSONAL opinion, not a PROFESSIONAL one |
This is my worry, I'm currently insured with Adrian Flux and my policy expires in August. I want to change to an Impreza now but I did a quick online quote with them and it came back at £1500!!!
I've never paid more than £1000 for insurance, including an MR2 Turbo and a 200SX, so why is the Impreza so expensive?! I've yet to ring them so the price will more than likely drop, however it's still a high starting point! Unfortunately for me I'm paying monthly through Adrian Flux and if I'm right the monthly payments work like a loan and I'd have to pay it all off if I cancelled my policy! |
Adrian Flux are useless imo. They dont know about cars, and they dont giv competitive quotes.

I rang them and they said they wouldnt insure me, that was with 3 years ncb clean licence etc, 30 yrs old. Said because I hadnt got 1 years experience with the car they wouldnt insure me. FWIW I used to drive a slightly modded sunny gtir (around about 280bhp) and have had other turbo cars in the past. If you can drive a gtir with understeer city and metro brakes, you can drive a scoob! |
I'm going to give Flux a call today at lunch and see what sort of price they can do for me. I'm definitely not staying with them after this year, as changing comanies is just way too much hassle.
If I remember correctly, when you pay your insurance monthly with them, you are actually getting a loan from a different finance company, this is why when you want to cancel there are a lot of penalties to pay etc. |
A-Plan are the place. Simple as that :d
|
I've filled in their online form for a quote so I will see what they come back with. I've just got to see what I can do about Adrian Flux for the minute though.
|
Spoken to Adrian Flux and...
WRX - £1600 STi - £2050 Bloody rubbish! The good news is that I can cancel my insurance with them now and I would actually receive a small refund instead of having to pay them anything, so I think I'm going to try A-Plan now. |
Cheaper Insurance
Hi. My first post here! I went with the Insurance Factory. No NCB because of company car use, but they gave me some credit for 4yrs claim free driving. I'm 33 and got the quote down to £800... not bad for a first time 300bhp import WRX driver! And I had a non-fault claim 3 days after buying the car... all sorted quickly and efficiently.

I've been with them for a good while now, not just on my modded wrx, which ive had almost 2 years, due to the like for like policies that they do.
Im 29, 0 points, 7 years ncb, and cars garaged at night in low band crime area. I asked for a quote for myself and wife for a standard 04 sti type uk, and they quoted me £1768, £520 excess!!!! Elephant came up with £751, £250 excess, which later rose to £801, £250 excess. Admiral £901, £250 excess I think i shall also be looking elsewhere when i renew and upgrade, so much for customer loyalty! |
Ok, forget what i said last month about them!!!
I got some qoutes last week from Confused.com They ranged from half a dozen at 1300 right up to 4000. Funnily enough one of the insurers that declined was Tesco who im currently with! First year was 2490, second was 1400 and after a bump went up to 2000. Im 25 now and will have 1ncb come my renewal in august. I enquired with Adrian Flux and they qouted 1100. Wether or not they will still qoute that in august is another matter! Im pretty sure Tesco will re new though! |
just had a quote from Adrian Flux for my 02 sti uk. 35 years old 1,000,000 ncb garaged, £1,420. My current renewal from priveledge is £767. Greenlight was £753 but with direct debit, turned out more expensive due to wanting £156 deposit.
Had my car two years. Wont bother with A Flux on Impreza's anymore as they obviousy dont want to insure them. |
Adrian Flux are very good for naughty drivers with bans and points but they are funny about group 20 imports wouldnt even swop me over to a scoob at any price! said i had to cancel and lose 1 YNC.

However, they refused to insure me on this due to the drop in the monthly price for the last 3 months of the term. Their wording was 'it's no benefit to us to allow you to do it'. So I had no option, because I needed the NCB for the scoob on the next years insurance, otherwise I'd never have got insured this year. They left me in the situation of having the scoob on the drive for 3 months and I couldn't drive it. |
