Want to start trading (stocks / shares etc)

I want to start doing some on-line trading with some spare cash I have.
Will only be trading with cash I can afford to lose, but want to dabble, have a bit of fun & perhaps make a few ££ in the process.

Can anyone point me in the right directio of the "best" on-line trading websites? Also any tips for trading or tips for getting started and/or building a portfolio?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Ro.

Pick a market segment that you are familiar with

Set up a virtual portfolio , paper trade for a few months to see if you 'get' it.

Try not to buy micro-caps initially due to adverse spreads (15-20% isn't unusual ), and don't spread yourself too thin as dealing costs will be proportionately significant. Resist the urge to churn, but don't be afraid to admit when you have got it wrong....
