A big thanks to those involved with organising the rolling road session at Glenrothes today (JohnS and Jim). There were about 15 or so Imprezas there, a Legacy twin turbo, an Evo 6 and a few Sunny GTi-R's (They didn't stay long though). I was impressed with the enthusiasm shown by Jim as he caned all our cars http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif and then discussed what he had found during the runs. I now know my 93 WRX has a couple of hiccups in the boosting, actuator spring is likely culprit. For the record, my car has a K&N panel filter, resonator box removed, magnex decat centre pipe and Milltek backbox. It was producing 249bhp@ 5900rpm with 229lb/ft torque. I was well chuffed http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif as I was hoping for the factory issue 240bhp. Thanks again, Mark

I would also like to give the guys at Star Performance a bit of recognition. Even though I didn't put my car on to the rollers, Jim and the guys at Star had plenty of time and patience for my questions.
I would recommend them for another event in the future.
Must admit I was well impressed with the Evo6 managing 322bhp!

I arrived late, but still managed to see a few runs. A definite event for the future I would say. I cannot help but notice on a few bruised egos today. Mine being one of them http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif
Still must not grumble as my car plotted a good torque curve from 3000 to 6000rpm.
Time for an STI, methinks!!??

What colour was the EVO? I would guess silver after a little encounter yesterday http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
Was he going home at around 4/4.30 ish
Cheers

Martin,

the EVO should have been white, and the event was finished around 2:30pm I think.

I echo the above sentiments. Very impressed with Jim's knowledge and assessment of the test results. Thanks to JohnS for organising it and all at Star Performance for turning out on a Sunday.

I'm very pleased that everything went well. It sounds like everyone had a good day out, though some were a bit disappointed with their performance figures, but they are probably very realistic, unlike some other rolling roads in the UK which are known to read a bit high.

Jim called me after the event to say how very pleased he was with the event, and was very impressed with the turn out and quality of the cars.

Unfortunately, I couldn't make it down myself as the earliest I could get away was about 12:30, and it wouldn't have been worth the 90 minute drive down from Aberdeen. Next time though http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Jim is going to post me through plots of all the runs acheieved on the day, and I'll see about getting them scanned in.

I understand Sam's Impreza is a bit of a torque monster, at 280 lb/ft!

Jim was very impressed by John Phillip's green Impreza, and thought it was the best turned out one on the day.

Thanks to all who turned up for the event, and no doubt we'll be back there for a repeat session soon.

So what colour was the EVO6?
PLEASE!!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
Was he travelling back from Glenrothes in the Stirling/Glasgow direction?
Cheers

The Evo was silver, had a modified ecu on it and gave about 320bhp.

Cool - got a race off him on the way home. He was behind us and was obviously quicker while I was in 4th but dropped back once I got it into 5th. Dont know if he had a short box or what but it was a good laugh. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif If anyone knows him say cheers and ask why he honestly dropped back.

JohnS,

Did you ever get details of the runs at this event? Thanks.

Raymond.

JohnS 11 September 2000 12:57 AM

Raymond,

funnily enough I spoke to Jim this morning about the plots. He never got my e-mail with the address on it, but they'll be in the post tonight. I'll try and get them scanned in by the end of the week.
