What engine tuning...?
I know the standard is better brigade will have me hung and quartered for this but... my dad's just purchased a my02 wrx :luvlove: which for the majority would be more than adequate, but my dad wants around 350-400 bhp :norty:
and before I get jumped from the likes of pslewis, this is for track use, but also it will be a road car, so what would be the best engine tuning for maximum reliabilty as well as power, and how much would it cost? |
I would say:
£1300 - GGR 2.5 Bottom End £1000 - ECU & Mapping £500 - Full Exhaust £400 - Uprated Manifold £700 - TD05 18g (estimate) £500 - Fuel Pump, FPR, Panel Filter & Any other wee engine bits £1000 - Replacement Brakes (AP, Brembo, etc) £800 - if Bigger Wheels needed to clear new Brakes £1000 -Suspension & Handling Upgrades £500 - Defi 3-Gauge Set-Up Total staying as a 2.0: 6,400 Total going for a 2.5: 7,700 There could possibly be other things that are needed to get to your target BHP level, but thats all I can think of just now.... It will be much easier to achieve 350bhp on an engine professionally spec'd around the 2.5 bottom end. IMO. :) Cheers, Grant |
thanks mate :)

£1200 for a FMIC :)
|
AP kits are £1500 plus :)
motec, gems, links are £1k-2K plus mapping ( depending on ecu model :) ) |
Hahaha, ok gays.. I mean guys, I did say I might have missed something!! :p:D
I was thinking of an Power FC when it came to the ECU as I believe thats enough to run a reliable 400bhp, proved by AndyF. The prices arent including labour either, to be honest, I dont think you'd be more than a kick in the pants away from £10k for a pro built 2.5 conversion & supporting mods. Cheers, Grant |
