A mate of mine suggested that the intercooler water spray on typeR's may cause a problem if the car is being driven very hard and then runs out of water.

Is it true? Personally I doubt it...but what d'you think?

Also, has anyone measured on a dyno the power difference with/without the spray?

I wouldn't have thought it causes a problem, unless bit's of residue clog things up if they are pulled through by the auto spray...
I've ran out of water previously with no obvious damage (manual spray).

It's cold and rains most of the time here anyway. (Still us the spray though) http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

All the intercooler spray does it help reduce the air intake temprature so you get a denser charge of air.
The worst that will happen is that you will lose a small amount of power due to a warmer, less dense charge of air going into the intake.

Perhaps he has it confused with water injection which cools the cylinder when you run mega boost. That would cause a sever problem if it ran out - detonation, holed pistons, etc.
