Having never used this software before I have been tasked to use it to project manage the introduction of a series of products

Can somebody give me hints and tips for using this
Thanks,
Mike

Understand the relationship between duration , resource , and work

MAke sure the project is correctly setup from the start . It defaults to 0800 - 1700 hrs

Use it as a planning tool , not a reportin tool , unless you are tracking the project.

Spec all jobs in hours , be aware that 7 days is not one week.

Fun program , and can cause headaches.

I strongly recommend getting a book and working through it.
Although it appears simple on the surface there is a lot of subtle depth in project. Unless you understand some of the basic workings and default assumptions it may lead you astray in its calculations.

As per above getting it set up as you want it before you start is essential to avoid errors.

Project 2000 in easy steps, ISBN 1-84078-114-9 is a good starting point.

As above, Project does soooo much.

We just use it at work for drawing Gantt charts!

John.
