Removing melted plastic from my exhaust tail pipe?

During a trip to the NEC a while back, my exhaust came off its hanger on the right and was resting against the bumper and skirt trim. Its melted a big chunk out of the bumper and is now covered in melted plastic.

I've scraped most of the lumps off but the metal is quite badly stained. Is there anything I can use to make it all nice and shiny again? Don't know if theres any way of using a brillo and then using something to polish it up again.

Really appreciate some help becuase it looks really scruffy now :(

if it is just stained something mildly abrasve should shift it - thinking of brasso or a light cutting compound.

if there are still bits of plastic stuck to it, i'd try a rag soaked with carb cleaner or acetone or a similar mild solvent to soften them then remove them.

Good luck,
TT

No ideas on the cleaning apart from stuff liek brasso as per what TT said.

Totally different idea, but what about gently heating the tailpipe so it goes different colours, a bit like the titanium back boxes that you can get.

Best way is to put it in a freezer, provided you have a big enough freezer that is..!;)
