De-CAT

I was thinking about de-catting the mid CAT on my 1994 WRX IMPORT and leaving the Down CAT.

I'm not yet up on these WRX's, and I had a look under it when I got it, and it's got a new exhaust which is drainpipe size throughout, it has rear silencer, and two silencers on the midpipe, then I can see a long CAT underneath at the front of the car. I'm trying to work out wether this is centre CAT or not?

Need to be explained too please!! :wonder:

they are usually a 3 piece system, a downpipe, centre section and backbox. (although mine was a 2 piece)
The downpipe comes down and under the car, you will easily be able to see where this section ends and the next one begins. The one you have seen at the front will be the downpipe cat.

For the best gains imo change the downpipe to a decat one, and leave your centre one in place. (if you want to remain eco friendly) and able to pass the mot (make sure car is hot though before testing)

Yeah it is 3 piece as I can see, the centre piece seems to just have to small silencers on there but I'm pretty sure there isn't a CAT there, so maybe it's already been de-catted on the centre piece?

Do you think, if this was the case, I should de-cat the down cat aswell, and put the down CAT back on for MOT testing, would this be an easy job?

Would this be good for my 1994 WRX import?

You only have 1 cat on the downpipe.

That Would free up a few horses and yes.. put the cat back on for MOT otherwise you have no chance of passing :)
