Oil Changes...how often?

How often should you get the oil changed? when it has a service (so every 10k?).

The car is a Impreza STI 05-non PPP. (265).

Thanks
Darren.

The general opinion is about every 6 months to be on the safe side.

Is it just time wise then or mileage?. I'm guessing at lease once a year as I only do about 10k a year.

depends how u use the car , in the 10.000 miles u do are they spirited drives or sunday picnic runs. if i were you i would change oil twice a year - once by garage to keep up service history + and once done by yourself changeing just the oil. i would always use genuine subaru filters also.

It all Depends on your usage and how you drive:

Basically as per your service intervals 10K/12month IIRC for MY05 for normal driving (sticking to speedlimits(ish), journey times longer than 20mins and being mechnaically sympathetic ). Except for adverse operating conditions:

That being: Hard driving, frequent redlining (or nearly), Track use (or driving on a public road as if it was a track :nono: )

OR

Short journeys, with frequent cold starts and travel time less than 15minutes

For BOTH of the above, you should consider EITHER:
Change your oil more often OR Use better oil (i.e full synthetic)
