I am in the process of putting together an article but I need help. I need a list of people who service/ repair imports. I do my own work so I don't know many people/garages..
I know of performance subaru in Coleraine and Mac's Power but that's it.
If you could give details of who works at imports (subaru's only) and you experiences of them good or bad I would appreciate it..

Try Micheal Maddens Garage airport road Kilkenny.

David L 05 April 2001 03:12 PM

I would need a phone number..Do you have any experience of him or know of people with subaru imports that uses him??

David, I would think you will have some problems with finding garages who will work on imported Subarus only. There just aint enough of them to justify only Subarus. You could also try GTi direct on 01 4568355, saw a couple of rally cars, a Lotus Esprit Turbo and a couple of Scoobs. They are fitting 4 pots to mine tomorrow.

Cheers

Alan

Try Carboy specialist cars and engineering had them fit my exhaust today will let you know later what I thought

David L 05 April 2001 06:36 PM

Lads thanks for the info so far...
I didn't explain properly in my first post
I am not looking for someone who ONLY works at import scoobies they can service any other type of car as long as someone has experience of them working at a Jap import scooby and thinks they are ok I will put there contact details in the article.
I am also looking for car breakers that have bits for scooby imports... I know of Pro-parts is then any others???

Scruff let me know what you think of GTI direct (i assume they are based in dublin)..

Andy W let me know what you think of Carboy..

David,

There is also a garage in Banbridge, but I can't remember their name. They sell Jap imports, but also have a servicing setup now.

Don't know anyone who has used them, but might jog someones memory.

The garage in Banbridge is L+R garage owned and run by Lawrence Gibson last years British Rallycross champion. All they ever did for me was fit a mph speedo face but Im sure he knows his Subarus too.028 4062 7434
Aidan Corey of Triple 7 also works at Scoobs and has the added advantage of his rolling road-top guy.
The mechanic which I use is Noble Patterson in Ballygawley. He works at prestige and performance cars mostly merc bmw and Porsche but also with Ferrari and Subaru.Iwould give him full marks for service, knowledge and workmanship. His rates are reasonable too.In fact my car is there as I type getting delimited and getting Prodrive geometry done.Tel no.028 855 67147.

TURBO7379 05 April 2001 11:01 PM

I think Mc Kinstry Motorsport (also in Banbridge) ran by Kenny Mc Kinstry service and tune all subarus including imports . I'll be talking to someone tomorrow who'll be able to give me a few more contacts .
I just found this in autotrader . They stock parts for all impreza models . Just a phone no 028 87740067 ( Coalisland ) .
Another one - E.T. International , Ballymoney . Spares & parts for jap imports . Breaking daily .
028 276 64161/66537/66547 .

Mac's Power 06 April 2001 12:59 PM

Cyril McCullagh Motors in Balibourough Co. Cavan took an advert in the first issue of torque and according to some members he is excellent. Very nice guys and a Subaru Owner. And of course don't forget us.

Paul.

Lads great info keep it coming. Do we have any more places you can get parts especially in the South as I have no contacts for breakers in the South...

Used GTI direct today and found them to be excellent. They certainly know their stuff and had a Subaru there owned by Mark Shalvey who sometimes posts here. This is an STi type RA and is well sorted with gas flowed heads, a soon to be fitted turbo back cat replacemant pipe and loads of other mods which Mark may enlighten us with in the future. They supplied me with a courtesy car for the day, gave loads of excellent advice, and will be on my shopping list in the near future. They can be contacted on

Thanks Alan. I will add GTI direct to my list. Anyone else have any more info..

Is pro-parts 028 7964 3954 the only people who break Jap import subarus in the whole of Ireland????

David L

SUNDAY DRIVER 09 April 2001 09:36 PM

No!,
There is a guy who always has WRX's for breaking.I have used him before-but found him expensive-just seems to make up a price off the top of his head-not nearly as professional as Proparts(IMHO)028 877 40067.Traynors in Moy also always have scoobys breaking WRX's and UK models-very professional and well priced.

Thanks for all the help. I now have enough information.
