Further to the ISDC meeting last week I have been in discussion with Mondello Park and they are not willing to back down on price but have allowed us a little more time for our money. In conjunction with the Porche Club Ireland we can run our first track day on 20th April at 12.30 pm.

This can only happen if we have 25 cars. Any less and the day can't run. Mondello will provide ambulance service and tow truck in the event of the worst happening.

Cost for the day will be £60 per car. Everyone will get at least 5 sessions of 4 laps which is about 10 mins per session. If the next grid is available to run immediately after the cars pull in then we might even get more time. Passengers will be welcome and the Porche guys have no problems giving passenger laps either.

The only thing is that we will need payment in advance so as to ensure that the day can run. Let me know what you think?

Paul.

paul

can you give any advice on insurance, what to bring i.e helmet etc...
first timer!

Scruff 03 March 2001 06:25 PM

Very suprised at the lack of interest on this one. Mondello as far as I am concerned is an excellent track having driven it a few times in a Formula VWs and Fiestas and had a howl of a time. For £60 this is a bargain and you can bring a mate who maybe can share some of the costs as he will be entertained as a passenger.

Cheers

Alan

I am certainly very interested but have already book knockhill Mar 17th, If it doesn't prove too expensive (tyres brakes etc) I'll be on for mondello.
Sorry for the lack of commitment guys but you understand my circumstances.
Andy

I may even be able to convince my M8 in his new elise to go down!

Edit-Macs can I suggest contacting the guys at trackskills.com they may have contacts who would be interested in a trackday in mondello, what with their day being cancelled(Their last day in 2000 had lots of scoobs)

Ok Lego,

What you need is a helmet. I have 2 here so anyone (without head lice) can have a loan of one when I'm not on track. Also you sould bring tape for your lights. Make sure that you have at least 50% left on your brake pads and that your tyres have enough thread to get you through the day and then home again safely. If your car is due a service then get it done and check all fluid levels before hand.
These are just some guidelines and most of all bring some common sense http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Track day insurance will be available on the day but most run without as it has quite a large excess. Some may argue that your car insurance will cover you. Technically this is correct as it only excludes racing, pacemaking and timetrialling. Since we do none of this on a track day then your insurance should be legally valid. The problem occurs when you ask your insurance company are you covered. Then then say no and you get an ammendment to your policy by registered post a day later excluding use of the car on a racetrack. Use your own judgement on this.

Paul.
