My wife and I are spending our honeymoon in Ireland.

Just kidding, we've both been there before...just not with each other, that's why we wanted to go back.

We'll be in Dublin the first through the third of March. So if you see a couple in a corolla that looks a bit lost, shout "hey steve" it might just be us....

Steve, hope you both have a great time over here but i have one word of advice. Do you know those big foot trucks that they use in the States for jumping over cars and making sh1t of them, well BRING ONE WITH YOU. The traffic over here came to a standstill years ago and it has not moved since. Three generations of the O'Hara family have been reared on the M50 motorway and they are in the process of getting planning permission for an extension to their 1975 orange Austin Allegro to turn it into a B & B. Various buildings such as Hotels have cropped up within the area of Motorways A & B roads and even alley ways to take advantage of all these stranded motorists. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Detroit traffic is pretty crazy here too. On a good day (the weekends and holidays) I can make it from my house to where I work in Detroit MI in 25 minutes. On a normal work day the exact same trip takes 45 minutes to an hour and a half...in the summer. In the winter it's taken as much as 2 hours to get home.

We're on one of those self guided tours. We have a big book of "things tourists might like to do in Ireland". Having been there, it makes me laugh...there's so much more than what the book tells you. We'll do a couple of them, but we prefer the "hey, that's neat, let's stop here" approach.

Most of the time will be bombing through the countryside, and off the Motorways...

The monster truck is packed.

I'm terrible with names, so bear with me....

Of the two days in Dublin, The first will be spent doing a little driving tour north to see that area with all the crosses...

The second will be touring around in the city I think...mostly in the area described above.

Then back to shannon on the third to catch the plane...so the nights of the first and second, we'll be in the area.

You got Grafton Street right but I am scratching my head about the one with the crosses. By the way it's a long way to come for just three days. It sounds like an area called Kells you are talking about with the crosses, thats where the famous book was written.

No no no....

We're flying into shannon on Sunday the 24th, and leaving on March 4th. We'll be in Ireland all week. We just want to cruise around and see everything. So the first couple of days will be spent in the West, and the last 3 will be in Dublin.

The area north is Drogheda. My wife has been there before, and says we MUST go again.

Scruff, LMAO about the traffic. I travel from Belfast to Dublin once a week. It is 107 miles between the two office. I can cover the first 103 in about 1 hour 45 mins and the other 4 miles in 2 hours.
Steve-d, you've got me curious about the crosses. I've been in most parts (read pubs) of Ireland, but I've never seen any association between Drogheda and crosses.

p.s. You probably don't want to say "Most of the time will be bombing through the countryside" if you decided to visit us in Belfast

there's a couple of other road I remeber well. We're in this Opel Vectra, just zooming along, all four of us. There's a little stone bridge...I could see the rally note...YUMP!!!...and there we were...airborne...

It was quite a wonderful feeling.

I was hoping there was rally when we were over there...but we miss by a week.

Steve, if you are looking for some motoring madness just drop by Darndale on the northside of Dublin and you will see plenty of tail out action, power slides, handbrake turns and doughnuts. Only problem is that the drivers haven't a clue who owns the car and they don't really care.

PS if you leave it till around 12pm Helicopters sometimes join in,

Got a ride in the rally car I'll be co-driving in march last night...BMW 318ti with 280hp M motor. I've never been so scared in my entire life...I can't wait for there to be trees on each side of us.

If you take Paul up on his offer I would recommend the following.

(a) Bring spare undergarments.
(b) Camera, to take picture of widest grin known to man.
(c) Ear protection, its a tad noisy.
(d) Life insurance, (Paul will probaly sell you some)
(e) Asbestos, it spits fire.
(f) A large cheque book. You will want to buy the futher mucker.
