Speed Signal Wire

Hi

Im just trying to finish wiring in my Greddy Turbo timer

I've wired it to the ignition but i need to put the brown wire to the hand brake and the purple one to the speed signal wire.

Does anyone know what the speed signal wire looks like?

Cheers

Jeff

Hi m8, i'm in the process of connecting a sat nav system, i also need to connect to the speed sensor wire, it's green & yellow and goes to pin A1 on the ECU.

This may help - http://206.13.93.15/STi_Stuff/STi_Manual/

Scroll down to wiring (section 7) then section 17. Its page 4.

hope this helps.

Anyone know what color the speed wire is on a classic MY97 WRX?

You will find ECU pin diagrams on here, mostly US but one for your MY should do the job..

since about 97 there has been a dedicated plug under the dash which has all the connections like earths, feeds, speed signal wire, for connecting in things like sat nav

not many people know that!

That'll be the OBD2 plug. OBD = on board diagnostics. Used by the dealer to plug in a magic box when they service the car. Allows them to look at fault codes, current state of the learned ignition advance curve and no doubt loads of other stuff.

It probably does have a speed signal but it'll be digitised as part of a datastream so not useful unless you have some software which can interpret it and extract the right signal. One example is ESP.

I'd be very surprised if a sat nav could use it.
