Can you remove the heat shield on the CAT and not replace it?

As above my heat shield has been removed whilst getting the clutch fitted. It is in a very poor condition, in fact its fecked! Can I live without it or do I need it replaced? If so can you wrap it or does it need to be replced like for like? Comments welcome.
thanks Ricky

i wont be replacing mine as i sold it.....but the main reason its there is to protect the intercooler from excessive heat id say.... As im having a frontmount then hopefully that wont be an issue!!

I think you can drive quite safe without any of the heat shields. I think a good alternative would be to power wrap it. It will proberly also make less noice than trying to fit your existing shield. The best solution however would be to replace it with a decat section :)

Thanks for the replies guys, I will make enquiry's re the wrap, any idea where I can buy it?
Only thing about a decat section is it failing the MOT? which I dont fancy.
Cheers Ricky
