Proper.....!!!

edited to add, you need to register to see the thread.... but this is what the guy said....

I'm new here and have an odd question, I'm trying to find out the weight of a V8 3.5ltr engine and auto box, the weights need to be for the complete items (ready to run so to speak).

I am looking to fit a proper engine into a Subaru, either with a regular rover auto box or maybe make an adaptor for the jap 4wd system, but i'll probably go with a proper box and RWD

Makes sense...good low down torque, instant throttle response.

Drag strip capeability of an auto+v8 is always better than a gutless 4 banger that relies on a turbo to spin up to produce any power. ;)

Just DO NOT use a Rover v8 - they are crap on the strip - too small in capacity, are built to bad tolerances, and parts suppliers are far to expensive to upgrade it (but probably cheaper than Subaru parts ;) ) A corvette LS3 engine and a TH700 auto would be much better choice (and no heavier)

Both alloy block covette and rover engines have a fully dressed (alternator, starter etc) dry weight of about 200kg, which is not to be sniffed at :nono:
