Hey Naff, how many miles are you gettin out of a tank.I am running 15 inch 195 RX wheels/tyres and the car seems to think its a P1 cause I am only getting 230miles from a tank and I tried to drive extra slowly that time?????? I think I will give it an ecu reset tomorow in work to see if that helps?

Mac's Power 20 November 2000 11:50 PM

In me father's time there once was a thing called the ecu reset......

I'm afraid kev that the fabled ecu reset is a thing of the past for us guys with newer cars. Some people swear by it but the truth if the matter is that the impreza ecu uses fuzzy logic and adapts itself to fuel, driving conditions etc....
A reset will only have a very temporary affect and then the ecu will readjust itself to the settings it "feels" like.

Did you ever find that after your wife or someone else driving your car that it is much slower when you get back in? Well this is due to the ecu adapting to their style of driving and it takes about 5 miles to get things back to normal.

Paul.

I find my 1.6 VERY heavy on juice as well Kev...I usually get about between 90 - 110 miles from 15 squid depending on how I drive...thats around town which is where I mostly do my driving but if I was driving at a constant speed in the country say....I would defintely get better milage then.......but not much !! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Kevin2000 21 November 2000 12:18 PM

I dunno mate,I will reset it with the computer in work tomorow and spend the rest of my days drivng super slowly.Your turbo is probably gettin more miles than my 1.6?

Scruff 23 November 2000 05:20 PM

Kevin, did you re-set your ECU and if so did it make any difference or is it just an urban myth.

Cheers

Scruff

Kevin2000 23 November 2000 07:21 PM

Need more time to empty the tank Mr Scruff although I am starting to drive like a girl by going from first to fifth gear in about 4 seconds so this might exagerate the increase in fuel Consumption.

Hey Colin, what sorta money roughly were the windows and are they good quality?
